Iowa State is getting back some key players in time for Saturday's homecoming game against BYU.
ISU coach Matt Campbell provided some updates Tuesday at his weekly press conference. Starting running back Carson Hansen is back in the lineup after he suffered a concussion Oct. 4 against Cincinnati. He has 79 carries for 348 yards and 2 TDs this year.
Kicker Kyle Konrardy has not played since leaving the Arkansas State game on Sept. 13. He will be back this Saturday as well, something that is a huge boost for the Cyclones. ISU has had multiple injuries at the position and resorted to using freshman offensive lineman Carson Rhodes to kick off last Saturday in the loss at Colorado.
Star defensive tackle Domonique Orange, who hurt his ankle against Colorado, has been practicing and has a chance to play this week. He is considered questionable.
Iowa State, which has lost two straight, has a chance for a marquee win at home against 11th-ranked BYU.
"When you start with this BYU team, you talk about physicality and their ability to run the ball, and then on top of that, they've got playmakers on the perimeter," said Campbell. "In the special teams game, offensively, all those guys are doing great things in all phases of the game. They are a complete offense and can really attack you in all facets of it."
Kickoff is at 2:30 on Fox. Be sure to watch Big College Kickoff at 10:30 on Very Local.
