Labor Day honors the intense grit unions showed fighting for workers’ rights. In 1986, people celebrated the day with that same intensity.
One man celebrated from the air. KOAT reporter Ernie Watson caught a hang gliding pilot before liftoff, and he said, "Rather than go to a barbecue, I jump off a mountain, fly around a little bit, and watch everybody else's barbecue."
Most others celebrated from the ground. Between the live music and learning trick shots from professional pool player Jack White, Watson found himself placing second in a hands-on armadillo race.
