WHEN YOU’VE DONE SOMETHING YOUR WHOLE LIFE, IT’S HARD TO JUST LET IT GO, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT’S SOMETHING THAT BRINGS YOU JOY. YEAH, THAT IS HARD IN MARSHALLTOWN, WOMAN MAY BE RETIRED, BUT A SURPRISE TODAY BROUGHT HER RIGHT BACK TO WHERE SHE’S MOST COMFORTABLE. HERE’S vlog OLIVIA TYLER TAKING US ALONG FOR THE HEARTWARMING MOMENT. I DON’T KNOW ABOUT MATH. YOU DON’T HAVE TO TEACH IT. YOU CAN JUST SEE IT. RIGHT. ANNETTE KELLY SPENT OVER 20 YEARS OF HER LIFE AT THE FRONT OF THE CLASSROOM. SHE’S 83 AND SHE MAY BE RETIRED NOW, BUT SHE’S ALWAYS TRYING TO DO A LITTLE TEACHER THINGS THROUGHOUT THE DAY. WHEN SHE’S HOME AT GLENWOOD PLACE, HER ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY IN MARSHALLTOWN, YOU CAN TELL, LIKE, EITHER MAKING SURE EVERYBODY’S ACCOUNTED FOR. SHE LIKES TO ORGANIZE THINGS AS FAR AS, LIKE OUR TOTES AND OUR CRAYONS, MARKERS, PAPERS, ETC. SO WHEN HER CARETAKERS, MELINDA AND PATTY, SURPRISED HER BY TAKING HER TO FISHER ELEMENTARY DOWN THE ROAD TO HELP TEACH, SHE’S LIKE, WELL, I THINK I CAN DO THAT, OKAY. AND YOU’RE DOING A WONDERFUL JOB. THEY MADE IT HAPPEN THROUGH DARE TO DREAM, A PROGRAM AT GLENWOOD PLACE, WHICH ONCE A MONTH MAKES A SPECIAL RESIDENT’S DREAM COME TRUE. I’LL SEE YOU AT PE. OKAY, I’LL SEE YOU THEN. FOR ANNETTE, THE CHOICE WAS EASY. AFTER TEACHING ALL THROUGHOUT IOWA AND MINNESOTA, I NEVER LEFT THAT SCHOOL. NO, YOU GO OUT THERE AND RUN AND REALLY MAKE BEING A LIFELONG TEACHER. I’LL ALWAYS KEEP IT. AND SHE SAYS KEEPING IT EVEN AFTER BEING OUT OF THE CLASSROOM FOR SO LONG ISN’T HARD. I JUST LOVE THEM. THAT’S ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS LOVE THE KIDS AND THEY’LL LOVE YOU. THEY KNOW IT ALREADY. YOUR WORK HERE IS DONE. YEAH, MY WORK IS DONE IN MARSHALLTOWN. OLIVIA TYLER, KCC
