Olympian AJ Hurt hits high note training for 2026 Winter Olympics

Olympian AJ Hurt hits high note training for 2026 Winter Olympics
At the 1960 Winter Olympics, this chapel offered *** quiet place for athletes to reflect. Decades later, I love playing the piano. *** mountain maestro tickles keys as masterfully. As she carves snow, you need to be so calm and composed when you're playing the piano and There is like *** sort of focus that I feel like I do kind of, it does kind of translate to skiing and the kind of the rhythm of everything. AJ Hurt's life rhythm has always revolved around Palisade's Tahoe resort, where she learned to ski and where her dad is on the ski patrol. My dad has been *** patrol here for longer than I've been alive. You were kind of the ultimate take your kid to work day success story. He would also let me. go after like when they do the, they call it the sweep after skiing and the mountains closed and they all ski down and they make sure everyone's off the mountain and they take down the signs. Signs of AJ's skiing talent showed up early. I mean, I was 16, I think when I raced my first World Cup, and no one, no one knows what they're doing at 16. No. But with age came results. AJ is an eight-year US ski team member, three-time national Alpine champ, made her Olympic debut at the 2022 games, and she's coming off *** breakthrough performance last season heading into Olympic qualifying for Milan Cortina. The physical grind is one thing. An athlete's brain battle is another. It's *** weird kind of exhausting thing to work on your mental part because it's so nonlinear of how you get better and like there'll be times when you think, OK, I finally got it figured out. I finally think I understand like what I need to think about and then you'll just have 5 races in *** row where you're like just kidding, I guess I don't. And that is where this comes in. Just being able to say you went to an Olympics at all is, is pretty special and and unique and something you can carry with yourself through your whole life. Inspired by *** place filled with Olympic history where AJ Hurt hopes to score the next chapter on the road to Milan Cortina. I'm Deirdre Fitzpatrick.
