The adoptive parents charged in the starvation death of Sabrina Ray have been granted changes of venue for their trials,
On Wednesday, Judge Terry Rickers granted Marc and Misty Ray changes of venue in the murder trial of 16-year-old Sabrina Ray.
Rickers said extensive media coverage has caused potential jurors to decide a verdict before the case is tried.
The judge has yet to determine where the trials will take place.
Sabrina Ray was found dead May 12, 2017, in their Perry home. She weighed 56 pounds at the time of her death.
Marc and Misty Ray, who owned an in-home day care, were initially charged with child endangerment resulting in death, along with seven other child endangerment and negligence counts.
Court documents also reveal that Marc Ray was charged with one count of second-degree sexual abuse for a child under 12 and one count of third-degree sexual abuse for a person 12 or 13 years old, though the charges were not related to Sabrina Ray ’s death.
The Rays pleded not guilty to first-degree murder, ongoing criminal conduct, first-degree theft and fraudulent practice charges in May of 2018.
Carla Bousman, Sabrina Ray's adoptive grandmother, was sentenced on April 8 to 20 years in prison after admitting she didn't seek medical attention for the dying girl.
In February, Sabrina Ray's adoptive brother, Justin Ray, pleaded guilty to willful injury and was sentenced to two consecutive five-year prison terms for his involvement in her death.
