AFTER AN EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL AWARD SEASON, THE CAST AND CREW OF THE PIT ARE BACK IN PITTSBURGH, USING THE STEEL CITY AS A BACKDROP FOR THE ACCLAIMED SHOW. THE HIGHLY ANTICIPATED SEASON TWO OF THE PIT IS ALMOST HERE. THE STARS OF THE HIT TV SHOW FLEW INTO PITTSBURGH RIGHT AFTER THE EMMYS TO GET TO WORK. OUR JOB IS JUST TO SAY, WHERE WOULD THEY BE TEN MONTHS LATER, AND WHO ARE THEY NOW AFTER WHAT THEY’VE BEEN THROUGH? AND AS LONG AS WE ANSWERED THAT HONESTLY, WE SHOULD BE ABLE TO HOOK EVERYBODY RIGHT BACK INTO WHERE WE HAD THEM LAST YEAR. THE PIT TOOK HOME FIVE AWARDS SUNDAY NIGHT, INCLUDING OUTSTANDING DRAMA SERIES. NOAH WYLIE, WHO PLAYS THE BELOVED DOCTOR ROBBIE, FINALLY GOT HIS EMMY FOR OUTSTANDING LEAD ACTOR IN A DRAMA SERIES. MY DAUGHTER CLEARED OFF SPACE ON HER MANTEL, AND THEN SHE WENT TO SLEEP, AND I CAME HOME AND I PUT BOTH OF THEM ON THE MANTEL, AND SHE WOKE UP AND SHE CAME IN THE BEDROOM THE NEXT MORNING, SHE SAID, DAD, WHAT HAPPENED? AND I SAID, GO DOWN AND SEE. SHE WENT DOWNSTAIRS AND I COULD HEAR HER SAY, YOU GOT TWO. IN HIS FIRST INTERVIEW SINCE THE WIN, WYLIE PRAISED THE STEEL CITY AND HOW IT’S ADDED TO THE SHOW. IT JUST SEEMED LIKE A REALLY GREAT. CITY AND A QUINTESSENTIALLY AMERICAN CITY. THE MORE DETAIL THAT WE PUT INTO THE SHOW, THAT MAKES IT FEEL MORE PITTSBURGH SPECIFIC, I FEEL MAKES IT MORE RELATABLE TO PEOPLE THAT AREN’T FROM PITTSBURGH, BECAUSE EVERYBODY HAS A SANDWICH, EVERYBODY’S GOT AN IRON CITY BEER IN THEIR TOWN, AND THE MORE SPECIFIC YOU CAN IDENTIFY IT TO THIS PLACE, THE MORE PEOPLE CAN FEEL LIKE IT’S THEIR PLACE AS WELL. PATRICK BALL, WHO PLAYS DOCTOR FRANK LANGDON, IS ALSO BACK FOR SEASON TWO AND TALKED ABOUT SOME OF THE PITTSBURGH PREP WORK HE DID FOR THE ROLE. I’M REALLY JUST WATCHED A LOT OF MIKE TOMLIN INTERVIEWS. AND YEAH, AND JUST WATCHED THE AARON RODGERS HIGHLIGHTS. PRETTY MUCH. THE SHOW WAS PRAISED FOR ITS REALISTIC DEPICTION OF CURRENT CHALLENGES. HEALTH CARE WORKERS FACE DOCTOR BRANT RAO, THE REAL LIFE DOCTOR AT ALLEGHENY GENERAL HOSPITAL WHERE PART OF THE SHOW WAS FILMED, PRAISED HOW ACCURATE IT REALLY IS. THE WHOLE SHOW DOES A REMARKABLE JOB OF JUST SHOWING WHAT HEALTHCARE WORKERS GO THROUGH EVERY DAY IN THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AND OUTSIDE OF THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT, AS WELL WITH OUR WITH OUR PARAMEDIC COLLEAGUES AND NURSES, PHYSICIANS, ALL THE STAFF INVOLVED. AS FOR SEASON TWO, YOU CAN EXPECT ANOTHER INTENSE 15 HOURS SET ON THE 4TH OF JULY. THERE’LL BE MORE FIREWORKS THAN JUST OVER THE ROOF IN SEASON TWO OF THE PIT WILL RETURN IN JANUARY OF 2026. And the more specific you can identify it to this place, the more people can feel like it's their place as well," he said.Filming locations include the hospital’s LifeFlight helipad, a rooftop which provides scenic views of the city, and various entryways to the facility. Part of the hospital was transformed, with Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center signs on the front doors.
