Rossen Reports: Surprising new prices for fall travel
The newest fall forecast for travel is out as we enter the cheapest time of the year to go on a vacation.
Starting with airfare, travel experts say we’re seeing prices drop. For a domestic trip, airfare prices are averaging $211 round-trip. That’s down about 30% from peak summer prices, which were around $298. When it comes to international travel, airfare is averaging $728 round-trip, down 31%. During the summer, tickets to Europe averaged $1,058 round-trip.
Hotel rates are also down nationwide. Right now, rates are averaging $196 per night, down 5% from the summer.
Rental car prices are also down 5%, averaging about $40 per day.

One more piece of information that will blow your mind: Remember the old motto, “Book on Tuesdays to save money.” Travel experts have been looking at the data from the last few years and say, booking on midweek is not the big money saver. Prices are only about 1.9% cheaper. So book on whatever day you want.
