More than 100 volunteers search for Abdullahi Sharif
More than 100 people formed a search party Friday in hopes of finding a missing Roosevelt High School student.
Abdullahi "Abdi" Sharif, 18, disappeared Jan. 17 after leaving his job at the Target Store in Merle Hay Mall.
The search party gathered at Freedom Blend Coffee, located at MLK Parkway and Hickman Road, and fanned out in a 3-mile radius.
Sharif was last seen wearing a navy coat, khaki pants and blue shoes. According to authorities, his cellphone last pinged Jan. 17 at 5:47 p.m. near the cell tower by Broadlawn's Hospital.
Ifrah Muhumed, Sharif's sister, said her family will not give up searching until they find answers.
"I'm really grateful for everybody who's been helping out and spreading the words about my brother," she said. "Hopefully, he sees this, or he knows that we are out there looking for him and that we're really worried and we're really concerned, and we want him home."
Members of the search party said they plan to stay out until sundown.
The family offered a $5,000 reward for information that brings Sharif home.
