DOWN SOME COOLER TEMPERATURES. HERE WE ARE THIS WEEKEND WILL BE OKAY. WE GET WE GET THE CHANGE. TOMORROW IS STILL KIND OF HOT, UNFORTUNATELY, BUT NOT AS HOT AS TODAY. AND YESTERDAY WERE. SO THAT’S MAYBE SOME GOOD NEWS THERE. HERE’S WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE FOR OUR HIGH TEMPERATURES ACROSS THE UPPER MIDWEST HERE TODAY. 105 IN LINCOLN. WE WERE AT 99 HERE IN DES MOINES, UPPER 80S FOR MINNEAPOLIS, CLOSE TO 100IN KANSAS CITY. AND HAD 102 IN WICHITA THIS AFTERNOON. DEW POINTS ACROSS THE STATE PRETTY CLOSE TO WHERE THEY WERE YESTERDAY, UPPER 70S, IF NOT LOW 80S. SO AGAIN, WE ARE STILL WITH THE SAME KIND OF AIR MASS, THE OPPRESSIVE TROPICAL LIKE FEEL OUTSIDE THAT WILL STICK AROUND THROUGH TONIGHT AND INTO AT LEAST A GOOD PORTION OF THE DAY TOMORROW EVEN THOUGH OUR TEMPERATURES WILL BE JUST A LITTLE BIT LOWER THAN THEY WERE TODAY. THE REST OF TONIGHT, IF YOU HAVE PLANS, PACK THE LIGHT LAYERS OUT THERE, SUNGLASSES, DRINK LOTS OF WATER. WE’RE STILL HANGING OUT IN THE UPPER 90S THROUGH THE 6:00 HOUR HERE. LOW 90S BY EIGHT, 9:00 TONIGHT. BUT NOTICE THE FEELS-LIKE TEMPERATURE STILL IN THE TRIPLE DIGITS BY LATER ON THIS EVENING. AND THEN WE STAY IN THE UPPER 80S BY 10:00. BUT WE’RE STILL FEELING LIKE THE MID 90S AS WE HEAD CLOSER TOWARDS MIDNIGHT. SO THE HEAT IS WITH US FOR ONE ONE MORE DAY. DEW POINTS ARE AGAIN GOING TO DROP OFF TOMORROW. STILL PRETTY MISERABLE WITH DEW POINTS IN THE 70S. BUT NOTICE WHAT HAPPENS BY FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY WE DROP MAYBE DOWN EVEN INTO THE UPPER 50S. SO WE’RE CLOSER TO THAT COMFORTABLE, MORE COMFORTABLE AIR MASS THAT STICKS AROUND THROUGH SUNDAY AND INTO THE FIRST PART OF NEXT WEEK. SO AGAIN, RELIEF ON THE WAY AS FAR AS THE HUMIDITY IS CONCERNED. BUT ALSO TEMPERATURE WISE, THIS COOL FRONT, WE WON’T CALL IT A COLD FRONT, WE’LL CALL IT A COOL FRONT. IT’S NOT THAT INTENSE, BUT IT WILL TRY TO BRING IN SOME COOLER AIR AS WE HEAD CLOSER TOWARDS THE WEEKEND. YOU’RE ALREADY FEELING THAT IF YOU’RE IN NORTHERN IOWA THIS EVENING, THIS FRONT WILL SLOWLY SHIFT DOWN TO THE SOUTH THROUGHOUT THE DAY ON THURSDAY. SO IF YOU’RE IN CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN IOWA, WE DON’T FEEL THE EFFECTS OF THIS UNTIL THE WEEKEND. BUT NORTHERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE THROUGH FRIDAY WILL LIKELY FEEL A LITTLE BIT BETTER THAN US HERE IN CENTRAL IOWA. FUTURECAST LOOKS LIKE THIS, MAYBE A FEW ROGUE SHOWERS OR STORMS TOMORROW MORNING IN NORTHERN IOWA. AND THEN WE COULD SEE MAYBE A FEW VERY ISOLATED SHOWERS OR STORMS, ESPECIALLY ACROSS SOUTHERN IOWA FRIDAY EVENING. OTHER THAN THAT, I THINK OUR RAIN CHANCES ARE VERY LIMITED. IF YOU’RE IN CENTRAL IOWA, CLOUDS MOVE OUT OF HERE. WE HEAD INTO SATURDAY AND INTO SUNDAY AND WE’RE LOOKING AT A FAIRLY DRY WEEKEND FOR BOTH DAYS OF YOUR WEEKEND. SO TOMORROW, AGAIN, NOT THE COOLEST WEATHER, BUT AGAIN, IT’S NOT GOING TO BE AS HOT AS IT WAS TODAY. WE’LL SAY THAT TEMPERATURES CLIMB INTO THE MID 90S, I THINK. AND THEN OUR HEAT INDICES ARE BACK INTO THE LOWER TRIPLE DIGITS, A LITTLE BIT BETTER FEELING OUT THERE, BUT STILL NOT THE BEST WEATHER TO BE OUTSIDE FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME, ESPECIALLY WITH THE SUNSHINE OVERNIGHT TONIGHT. WE’LL STAY INTO THE MID 70S AGAIN. WE’LL DROP INTO THE MID 70S ACROSS THE METRO AREA, 75 IN JOHNSTON THIS EVENING. WE’LL BE INTO THE MID 70S OUT TOWARDS PLACES LIKE ANKENY AND BONDURANT. TOMORROW’S FORECAST TAKES US BACK UP INTO THE MID 90S. THAT’S THE CASE FOR MUCH OF US HERE ACROSS THE METRO AREA, 93IN JOHNSTON. TOMORROW, 95 IN DES MOINES, 92 UP IN ANKENY, A DAY FORECAST LOOKS LIKE THIS. WE’LL KEEP IT IN THE MID 80S FOR BOTH SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. SO THAT’S A LITTLE BIT CLOSER TO NORMAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR AS WE HEAD INTO NEXT WEEK. WE’VE GOT FAIRLY COMFORTABLE TEMPERATURES, AT LEAST OVERNIGHT LOWS. FINALLY GET BACK DOWN INTO THE 60S BY MONDAY AND TUESDAY MORNIN

It has been a really hot stretch with record-breaking heat yesterday and the potential for more triple digit heat today. Humidity will stay up making for heat indices around 115° today. We'll have quite a bit of sunshine too so it will be quite unpleasant this afternoon to be outside. Temperatures drop into the middle 70s tonight and tomorrow we'll only top out in the mid 90s with heat indices around 105°. We've got a weak front that'll roll through Friday and bring in chances for a few stray showers but nothing widespread and nothing that heavy though we do desperately need it. Temperatures continue to wind down through the end of the weekend with middle 80s Saturday and Sunday and even dewpoints dropping into the low 60s by the end of the weekend. We'll keep it in the low to mid 80s through Wednesday with the coolest day being Tuesday with a high of 80°. We'll have another chance for a few showers on Monday, otherwise the next eight days look very dry.Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts | ClosingsIowa weather forecastToday: Generally sunny despite a few afternoon clouds.
