Students and teachers welcomed two new members of the Perry Community School District this academic year. The furry friends are already making a big difference in the hallways and classrooms in their first year.Kona and Sunshine Shimmer are therapy dogs at Perry Middle School. Both dogs received their Canine Good Citizens certification last year, which gave them the green light to be at school on the first day of the 2024-25 school year.Angie Beaudet teaches sixth-grade science. She has Kona with her every single day while she does her lessons and roams around campus."If she senses that somebody is having a bad day, you'll see her spend a little bit more time there or pass by them more frequently," Beaudet said. Kona and Sunshine Shimmer are therapy dogs at Perry Middle School. Both dogs received their Canine Good Citizens certification last year, which gave them the green light to be at school on the first day of the 2024-25 school year.
