The adoptive mother of a 16-year-old who was starved to death entered a plea of not guilty Tuesday to charges related to the case.Misty Ray and her husband Marc face charges of neglect and abuse for Sabrina Ray's death. Marc Ray is scheduled to appear in court Thursday. They are each being held on $1 million bond. Sabrina’s Ray’s biological father and aunt spoke to ����vlog's Hannah Hilyard on Tuesday in their first TV interview. Joseph Busch and his family have had nearly six years to come up with their favorite memories of Sabrina Ray. "(Sabrina was) goofy,” said Busch, Sabrina’s biological father. “She was outgoing." Before last week, those memories came with a hope they'd see her again. In 2011, Sabrina Ray was removed from Busch's home. Family members said it happened after her teachers started asking questions about her extremely chapped lips. "After being asked so many times, you're going to come up with different things,” said Nicole Bond, Sabrina’s biological aunt. “She said she had her mouth taped." Busch was arrested for child endangerment but denies the allegation. "No. Never has or never would have been, you know?” Busch said. “I'm not that type of person. I'm not going to do that. She was my world." "With Sabrina's case, it was harder to try and make it right because he felt like his back was against the wall and he felt ... really hurt,” Bond said. Sabrina was immediately placed into foster care and later adopted by Marc and Misty Ray. Earlier this month, she was found dead -- weighing just 56 pounds. "Oh, my gut just sank, and I knew,” Bond said. “I just knew it was her." Sabrina's biological family members said there is a sense of relief knowing the Rays are behind bars, but they still have some harsh words for the couple. "Shame on you for wanting to adopt children to treat them like that, because there are so many people in the world who want to have children and can't have them,” Bond said "Yeah there is anger because, you know, if she wasn't placed there she'd still be alive,” Busch said. Sabrina’s death is now a new, painful reality for Busch and the rest of his family. "That was my girl, my daughter there,” Busch said. “And I just can't believe she was here and now she's gone, you know? And I was hoping in the future, even when she was adopted, (that) we would connect." Sabrina Ray’s biological family did give up all rights once the Rays adopted her, but Bond said if they could have one wish, they would ask for custody of Sabrina’s body so they could give her a proper funeral.
