Americans question Trump’s transparency on Epstein, UMass Amherst national poll finds
Nearly everyone in the country is aware of the Jeffrey Epstein case, and more than half of those who are believe that President Donald Trump is concealing information about the case, according to the results of a new national poll.
Conspiracy theories and outrage have swirled around Epstein since 2006, when the financier first faced criminal charges related to the sexual exploitation of underage girls. He killed himself after more charges were brought in 2019.
The new UMass-Amherst national poll found that 96% of people are at least aware of the case, with 36% reporting that they have heard a lot about it.
The UMass-Amherst national poll is based on a sample of 1,000 people collected between July 25 and 30. The margin of error is 3.5%.
Of those who are aware of the case, 70% believe a list of Epstein's clients exists, 67% believe Trump and Epstein were once good friends, 63% believe the Trump administration is hiding information, and 59% believe a special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate how the Epstein case was handled. 81% of those who believe the administration is hiding information said Trump is to blame.
Just 7% of those polled said Trump has handled the release of information concerning the Epstein case very well — the lowest rating for all issues included in the poll.
