So the agency says it is doubling down on its efforts to protect mail and those who deliver it us says it's expanding its project safe delivery crime prevention initiative and that includes installing 12,000 high security blue collection boxes nationwide to make access to mail more difficult for criminals and replacing 49,000 mail carriers airlock keys with electronic ones. Postal service will also be offering enhanced in person change of address transactions starting May 31 postal service customers seeking *** change of address will now receive *** validation letter at their old address and receive an activation letter at their new address. The postal service will no longer accept third party change of address submissions. The postal service says that residents can take their own steps to prevent mail theft, including not leaving mail in your box for an extended period of time.
