Veteran pollster J. Ann Selzer ends contract with Iowa Poll
A veteran pollster here in Iowa is not renewing her contract with the Des Moines Register's Iowa Poll.
J. Ann Selzer made the announcement in an op-ed published in the Des Moines Register today. She says she made the decision and told the Register more than a year ago and will continue to work with her clients as she moves on to future ventures and opportunities.
Selzer faced criticism over the final Iowa Poll of the presidential race. It showed Kamala Harris leading in Iowa over Donald Trump, but totals from Election Day show Trump won Iowa by 13% over Harris.
In the article, Selzer says, "Would I have liked to make this announcement after a final poll aligned with Election Day results? Of course. It's ironic that it's just the opposite. I am proud of the work I've done for the Register."
Selzer first worked with the Iowa Poll in 1987. She later started her own firm and has worked the poll on a contract basis since 1997.
