A Vietnam War veteran was honored with a high school diploma five decades after he left school.It happened during the Northwest Local School District Board of Education meeting on Monday night.Thomas Ludwick, a former student at Colerain High School, left school in 1967 to join the Army.More than 55 years since he left the school, Ludwick was recognized Monday for his service and given a diploma from Colerain."The Board of Education and district leadership are deeply honored to recognize Mr. Ludwick's commitment to our country," said Superintendent Darrell Yater. "It is never too late to say thank you and to give our veterans the recognition they deserve."During his time in the Army, Ludwick received numerous honors, including the National Defense Service Medal, a Bronze Star Medal, a Vietnam Service Medal and a Combat Infantry Badge.School districts in Ohio can give out high school diplomas to veterans who left high school prior to graduation to serve in the military.
