Crews take down Wells Fargo Arena lettering as Casey's Center transition begins
SAFELY ENTER THE UNITED STATES. BACK HERE AT HOME, A BIG CHANGE IS UNDERWAY FOR ONE OF DES MOINES MOST RECOGNIZABLE LANDMARKS. AFTER 20 YEARS OF ENTERTAINMENT, THE WELLS FARGO ARENA WILL SOON BE KNOWN AS THE CASEY CENTER. vlog ALBIA TYLER WAS THERE AS ONE SIGN CAME DOWN TO MAKE WAY FOR A NEW ONE. FOR 20 YEARS, THIS SIGN BEHIND ME HERE LIT UP BRIGHT RED AND WELCOMED THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE FOR ALL KINDS OF EVENTS. BUT NOW THE ICONIC LETTERING IS COMING DOWN TO WELCOME A NEW SPONSOR AND A NEW SHADE OF RED. A NEW ERA IS BEGINNING AT THE IOWA EVENTS CENTER, A 20 YEAR PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN WELLS FARGO AND THE ARENA WILL COME TO AN END NEXT MONTH. STARTING JULY 1ST, THE VENUE WILL BE CALLED CASEY CENTER. THE NEW PARTNERSHIP WAS ANNOUNCED LAST OCTOBER. THE EVENT CENTER SAYS THE BANK WAS A GREAT PARTNER, BUT THEY’RE EXCITED TO WORK WITH A LOCAL COMPANY. THERE ARE MORE RENOVATIONS COMING IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. THE PANEL REPLACEMENT BEHIND US WILL TAKE A COUPLE WEEK PROCESS. SOME OF THE BRICKWORK ON THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE BUILDING WILL TAKE ABOUT A WEEK. TIME PERIOD BEFORE WE CAN START INSTALLING SIGNS. CASEY’S IS PAYING FOR THE THE ROOF TO HAVE A LOGO UP ON THE ROOF, AND SO WE’LL BE PAINTING THE ROOF HERE IN THE NEXT FEW WEEKS. THE IOWA EVENTS CENTER’S PARTNERSHIP WITH CASEY STARTS ON JULY 1ST, AND THE CENTER IS HOPING TO HAVE ALL THE LETTERING DONE IN TIME FOR NEXT MONTH IN DES MOINES. OLIV

Work has started at Wells Fargo Arena to get the downtown Des Moines building ready for a makeover.Crews began taking down the lettering on the outside of the arena Monday. The 20-year partnership between the bank and the arena will come to an end next month, at which point the building will become the Casey's Center.The Iowa Events Center will spend the next few weeks replacing the signage. Work has started at Wells Fargo Arena to get the downtown Des Moines building ready for a makeover.
Crews began taking down the lettering on the outside of the arena Monday. The 20-year partnership between the bank and the arena will come to an end next month, at which point the building will become the Casey's Center.
