A North Carolina nurse has spent the past few weeks traveling the eastern coast of the state vaccinating dozens of people for COVID-19. But one vaccination stood out in particular: His wife.Grier Wimmer works as a nurse and has been working with CVS Health to vaccinate those in the early phases of the vaccine rollout. His wife, a pharmacist, became one of his patients Friday."She was able to give me my flu shot a couple months back," Wimmer said. "And now I'm finally able to give her a vaccination. It was great. That was neat."A photo of the moment was shared on Facebook by the couple's daughter, Elizabeth.She captioned the photo: "Have you ever seen anything as cute as my dad giving my mom her first COVID-19 vaccine? Thankful for these healthcare workers and everything they do each day to keep us safe and healthy."Wimmer said he's had several family members and friends battle COVID-19, including his mother and brother.He considers being able to give individuals their vaccine a privilege and has been struck by their reactions."Clap, sing, praise God. I didn’t think about that part. When I went in I was just trying to keep people healthy and keep people right," Wimmer said. "They’re the ones who taught me, this is much more than that to them. They get to see their families again."Wimmer said he has already received his vaccine and said it was no different than the flu shot his wife gave him.
