Congressman Nunn advocates for year-round E-15 fuel availability
Rep. Zach Nunn is working to make E-15 fuel available year-round to help farmers facing high fertilizer prices and uncertainty from tariffs.
The Republican lawmaker discussed this initiative Friday during a roundtable with farmers in Earlham, emphasizing the need for more markets to sell their crops.
Nunn said making ethanol-blended fuel available nationwide and year-round would provide farmers with some relief.
"It's not only energy independence, it's an opportunity for a market for us to have it here domestically, and that gives us breathing room to be able to push hard on the Chinese to say 'come back to the negotiating table,'" Nunn said.
He also said China is manipulating the agricultural market by supporting Brazil, a top U.S. agricultural competitor. He said he is actively engaged in discussions with the White House regarding farmers' tariff concerns.
