Woman celebrates 100th birthday, credits her longevity to 'showing love' and being 'blessed'
A Michigan woman celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday, reflecting on a century filled with love and community.
Eileen St. Amour, born and raised in Munising, Michigan, has deep roots in her hometown. Her family tree showcases her legacy: four children, 10 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she cherishes.
"I've been blessed," Eileen told . "And people have said, 'Oh, you're lucky,' and I said, 'No, don't use the word lucky around me. I'm blessed.'"
Eileen's influence extends beyond her family.
During World War II, she worked at a defense plant in Detroit, and her fingerprints are evident throughout her hometown.
She has opened businesses and continues to lead her faith community as the head of the prayer line and as a prayer warrior.
"You give love, you receive love back in another way. It's a great feeling," she said.
Reflecting on serving and spreading love in her community, Eileen said she has a saying that guides her: "You bloom where you're planted."
When asked what has kept her going, her answer was simple: "Showing love- you know, the main impact of everything is love."
The power of love manifests in her faith, family, friendships, and even her loyalty to the Green Bay Packers.
"We've been Packer backers since they were on the other side of Green Bay!" she exclaimed, recalling autographs she received during a chance encounter in the 1960s.
Eileen encourages people to cherish each day.
"We're all put here for a purpose. And the time is short. These years have gone by fast. Yes. So don't waste them," she said.
