BELIEVE. ALL RIGHT. SO A COUPLE OF YEARS BACK, TWO YEARS AGO, WE INTRODUCED YOU TO A TUSCALOOSA TEENAGER WHO GRADUATED FROM HIGH SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY COLLEGE AT THE SAME TIME. IN JUST A FEW MONTHS LATER, SHE STARTED AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA. AND NOW SHE’S READY TO GRADUATE AT 16. YEAH, SO WVTM 13, JARVIS ROBERTSON TALKING WITH LANA ROBERTS TODAY, WHO IS EMBARKING ON QUITE THE JOURNEY. I CAN COUNT ON PROBABLY 1 OR 2 HANDS THE AMOUNT OF PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY KNOW MY AGE. LIANA ROBERTS IS ONLY 16 YEARS OLD AND WILL GRADUATE WITH A BACHELOR’S DEGREE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA NEXT MONTH. SHE CONSIDERS HERSELF A NORMAL STUDENT AND ENJOYS CAMPUS LIFE. I MEAN, THE SOCIETY OF WOMEN IN MEDICINE AS AN EXECUTIVE BOARD, VISIONARIES AND PASTORS, AS WELL AS IN ALICE PAUL’S MENTOR. AND THEN I ALSO PERFORM RESEARCH IN HEALTH DISPARITIES WITH BLACK BELT COMMUNITIES. BEING SO YOUNG IS NOT A PROBLEM FOR LIANA, SHE SAYS. AGE DOESN’T DEFINE HER. THE NAME OF THE GAME HAS DEFINITELY BEEN BALANCED. BALANCING EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS REMAINING VIGILANT IN THE CLASSROOM HAS HELPED ME SUCCEED SO FAR. HER PARENTS, LEE AND LATANYA ROBERTS, ARE BEYOND PROUD OF THEIR DAUGHTER’S ACCOMPLISHMENTS, BUT THERE WERE SOME APPREHENSION BEFORE ELIANA ENROLLED AT UA. HER DAD SAYS SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION MADE SURE SHE HAD MENTORSHIP AND OTHER RESOURCES, ESPECIALLY BEING AROUND SO MANY OLDER STUDENTS. I WANTED TO MAKE SURE THAT, YOU KNOW IT BE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR HER, THAT WE WOULDN’T HAVE TO WORRY. BUT NONETHELESS, LATANYA, ALWAYS FELT IT REWARDING. PICKING LIANA UP FROM SCHOOL. I WAS ALWAYS EXCITED TO HEAR ABOUT HER DAY EVERY DAY WAS UNIQUE, EVEN THOUGH CERTAIN DAYS WERE MORE CHALLENGING THAN OTHERS. BUT SHE ALWAYS SAW THE BRIGHT SIDE OF IT EVERY DAY AND A REWARDING MOMENT IN TIME FOR LIANA. SHE WILL BE HIGHLY DECORATED WITH OVER A DOZEN HONORS COME MAY 6TH. SHE’S STUDYING BIOLOGY ALONG THE PRE-MED TRACK, JUST BEING IN THE POSITION TO BE WHERE I AM IS A HUGE BLESSING. HERE ON CAMPUS AT BAMA, I’M TRAVIS ROBERTSON, WVTM 13. LEANNE IS AN ACADEMIC CAREER DOESN’T END WITH GRADUATION. SHE IS ALREADY ENROLLED IN THE MBA PROGRAM WITH A CONCENTRATION IN HEALTH CARE AND NOT DONE YET. WHY NOT ADD MEDICAL SCHOOL TO THE LIST? SHE’S ALREADY SUBMITTING HER APPLICATIONS. I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT SHE ACCOMPLISHES. I MEAN, THAT IS SO IMPRESSIVE ALREADY AT 16 AND TO SEE WHAT SHE’S GOING TO DO. JUST LISTENING TO HER AND OLIVER EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND ALL THE GOAL GOALS THAT SHE SET
