LAUREN JODI THEY DO WHEN THE HAWKEYES MAKE THE TRIP WEST HERE TO JACK TRICE STADIUM IN AMES. IT IS NOT JUST, AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, ANOTHER HOME GAME FOR THE CYCLONES. IT’S SO MUCH MORE. MORE TRAFFIC, AND YOU’LL LIKELY NEED MORE TIME TO FIND A PLACE TO PARK. WHEN I GET UP IN THE MORNING. THE CARS ARE PRETTY WELL PARKED EVERYWHERE ALONG THE STREET FOR AS FAR AS YOU CAN SEE. LIVING JUST BLOCKS FROM JACK TRICE STADIUM FOR MORE THAN 40 YEARS, DOUG CARLSON KNOWS HOW HARD IT IS TO FIND A PARKING SPOT DURING THE CY-HAWK GAME. CARLSON SAYS THE CITY DOES A GOOD JOB MAINTAINING CONTROL, MAKING SURE PEOPLE KNOW GAME DAY PARKING IS ENFORCED AND WHAT THE PENALTY IS FOR ILLEGALLY PARKING. FOR FOOTBALL FANS TRYING TO PARK ON CAMPUS. IOWA STATE UNIVERSITY POLICE KNOW IT IS GOING TO BE A BUSY SATURDAY. THE CY-HAWK GAME IS ONE OF OUR BUSIEST OF THE SEASON. ISU POLICE CHIEF MICHAEL NEWTON IS READY FOR AS MANY AS 100,000 PEOPLE TO CONVERGE ON AMES, AND THE CONGESTION THAT RIDES ALONG. WE DO CHANGE SOME TRAFFIC FLOWS AND PATTERNS, SO I ASK PEOPLE TO PAY ATTENTION TO THE POLICE OFFICERS THAT WE HAVE OUT DIRECTING TRAFFIC AND MOVING PEOPLE. CHIEF NEWTON WARNS PEOPLE NOT TO PARK ILLEGALLY OR IN TOW, AWAY ZONES OR AREAS THAT ARE LIT UP WITH NO PARKING SIGNS. WE HAVE PLENTY OF FREE PARKING ON CAMPUS. THAT’S A SHORT WALK OR RIDE BUS RIDE INTO JACK TRICE STADIUM. A LOT OF TRAFFIC TO THE GAME WILL COME FROM I-35 ONTO HIGHWAY 30. THERE IS A LOT OF COMPANY YOU’RE GOING TO HAVE ON THE HIGHWAY. IF THEY EXIT PRIOR TO THE UNIVERSITY EXIT, THEY’LL HIT DUFF AVENUE AND THEY’LL BE DIRECTED TO SOUTH 16TH AND ENTER FROM THE EAST SIDE. IF THEY CONTINUE PAST UNIVERSITY, PEOPLE WILL GET TO THE NORTH DAKOTA SOUTH DAKOTA EXIT THERE AND THEY’LL BE REDIRECTED TO THE STADIUM ON MORTENSON. NOW, SMITH, SUGGEST IF YOU WANT TO AVOID HIGHWAY 30, JUST TAKE THE 13TH STREET EXIT OFF OF I-35. WE’RE LIVE IN AMES. I’
