Recall issued for animal cookies sold at Target due to possible metal fragments
A popular snack item is being pulled from store shelves for safety-related concerns.
D.F. Stauffer Biscuit Co. Inc. announced a voluntary recall of its 44-ounce market pantry white fudge animal cookies.
The recall was initiated when metal wire was found inside a portion of the cookies.
According to the Food and Drug Administration, the products in question might contain small metal fragments.
The cookies come in a clear plastic container shaped like a bear and were sold nationally in Target stores.
The recall affects cookies with a best-by date of Feb. 21, 2021, jug lot number Y052722, a timestamp from 15:00 to 23:00 and UPC code 085239817698.
Consumers who bought these cookies are advised to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.
