Iowa weather: Some warm days before a big cooldown next week

Iowa weather: Some warm days before a big cooldown next week
BERLIN, CONNECTICUT. TURNING NOW TO WEATHER. AS WE START OUR WEDNESDAY OR MONDAY AFTERNOON AND DAVID, I’M GETTING A BIT OF AHEAD OF MYSELF. BUT TODAY’S FORECAST REALLY NICE. YEAH, REALLY BEAUTIFUL OUT THERE. WE GOT THAT BLUE SKY OVERHEAD. LOTS OF SUNSHINE AND TEMPERATURES ARE GETTING WARM FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. WE’RE ALREADY INTO THE UPPER 50S 60S OUT THERE AND WE WILL CONTINUE THAT WARMING TREND INTO THE AFTERNOON. SO A A REALLY NICE START TO THE WEEK. NOW THE SECOND HALF OF THE WEEK IS STILL LOOKING QUIET, A LITTLE BIT COOLER. UPPER 50S LOW 60S. STILL NOT BAD FOR NOVEMBER. WATCHING THE WEEKEND THOUGH. SOME SIGNS THAT THERE WILL BE SOME CHANGES AS WE HEAD TOWARDS SATURDAY AND SUNDAY. SOME COLDER TEMPERATURES, SOME RAIN CHANCES. WE’LL GET TO ALL THAT HERE IN JUST A MOMENT. HAS BEEN A BEAUTIFUL DAY SO FAR THOUGH. LOOK AT THAT SUNRISE THERE IN INDIANOLA. BEAUTIFUL BLUE SKY. JUST A COUPLE OF CLOUDS AND THAT GREAT FALL FOLIAGE THERE ON SIMPSON COLLEGE. JUST A FANTASTIC DAY. HOPEFULLY YOU HAVE A CHANCE TO ENJOY SOME OF THAT SUNSHINE. CLEAR SKIES ACROSS MOST OF THE STATE. JUST A COUPLE LITTLE PATCHES OF CLOUDS HERE AND THERE, SO WE SHOULD SEE PLENTY OF SUN HERE THROUGH THE REST OF THE AFTERNOON. THERE’S A LITTLE BIT OF CLOUD COVER AS YOU GET BACK INTO WESTERN NEBRASKA, COLORADO AND WYOMING. WE’LL SEE MORE OF THAT AS WE HEAD INTO THE LATE EVENING AND OVERNIGHT HOURS. UNTIL THEN, THIS IS WHAT WE GET TO LOOK FORWARD TO. CHECK OUT THAT BLUE SKY OVER PELLA. A LITTLE BIT OF BREEZE, THAT NORTHWEST WIND COMING IN 10 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR. PROBABLY THE ONLY DOWNSIDE TO THE FORECAST HERE FOR YOUR MONDAY IS THAT BREEZE RIGHT NOW, 15 MILES AN HOUR HERE IN DES MOINES, SITTING AT 59 DEGREES, THOUGH THAT’S NOT BAD. SO PROBABLY A LIGHT JACKET WITH THAT BREEZE. TEMPERATURES UPPER 50S TO AROUND 6057. IN ALGONA, 60 IN FORT DODGE, 59 IN SHERIDAN AND CRESTON, 61 NOW IN CLARINDA. SO WE SHOULD TACK ON A COUPLE MORE DEGREES HERE BEFORE THE DAY IS DONE. JUST KEEP IN MIND THAT NORTHWEST BREEZE RIGHT NOW, 10 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR, WILL STICK AROUND THROUGH EARLY EVENING WINDS. THANKFULLY NOT TOO TERRIBLY STRONG. THEY DIE OFF OVERNIGHT. NOW. TOMORROW WE GET A SOUTH WIND AGAIN, AROUND 10 TO 15 MILES AN HOUR. BUT IT HELPS US TO WARM EVEN MORE. SO OUR TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE TO CLIMB HERE FOR THE START OF THE WORKWEEK. I THINK WE GET UP TO ABOUT 6162 HERE THIS AFTERNOON. WITH ALL OF THAT SUNSHINE. SO JUST A BEAUTIFUL DAY COOLING OFF QUICKLY FOR THE EVENING, OF COURSE, DOWN TO ABOUT 52 BY 6:00, 50 BY SEVEN WITH THAT SOUTHWEST WIND BEGINNING TO DIE DOWN THERE AFTER SUNSET. SO HIGHS LOW 60S FOR MOST OF THE STATE TODAY. THAT’S NOW FIVE, SIX, SEVEN DEGREES ABOVE AVERAGE FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. TOMORROW. LOOK AT THIS. SOME SPOTS CLOSE TO 70. LOTS OF SUNSHINE. NICE SOUTH BREEZE. 6667. HERE IN THE METRO, YOU GET INTO SOUTHERN IOWA. YOU COULD BE TALKING HIGHS AROUND 70 DEGREES. SO THAT’S GOING TO FEEL REALLY NICE. DO YOU WANT TO JUMP AHEAD TO THE WEEKEND HERE. BECAUSE THERE ARE SOME CHANGES. SATURDAY IS NOT BAD. CLOUDS ON THE INCREASE 58. THERE IS A CHANCE OF RAIN BUT THEN COLDER WINDS BLOWING IN ON SUNDAY. LOOK AT OUR HIGH 41. SO WE GET THERE FOR SUNDAY AND OVERNIGHT LOWS COULD BE DROPPING OFF INTO THE 20S HERE BY THE WEEKEND. SO WE’LL JUST FOCUS ON THE SUNSHINE I

After a chilly weekend, we will warm things back up over the next couple of days. Interactive Radar | Weather Alerts | SkycamsNearly full sunshine today will help to really warm things up after the cool conditions we saw over the weekend. Temperatures are already near 60 degrees at Noon, and should continue to warm a few more degrees this afternoon. Highs likely top out between 60 and 63 degrees across central Iowa. The only downside to the forecast today is a northwest breeze that is coming in at 10 to 20mph. That will continue to make things feel a little cooler. The wind will die down for the evening, good news if you have outdoor plans as we approach sunset.Even warmer weather is expected for Tuesday as a southwest breeze begins to kick in. After morning lows in the upper 30s and low 40s, temperatures should surge into the mid and upper 60s by the afternoon. Highs should top out around 66 to 68 in the metro, with southern Iowa potentially climbing to around 70 degrees. That should put us 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year. Not bad for November! A quick moving system may bring parts of the state a chance of rain for Thursday night into Friday morning, but it is trending for areas east of I-35. This will be something we will continue to monitor as we get closer. The next round of rain will be Saturday as a large storm system drops south across the Midwest. This storm will also bring a strong cold front through Saturday evening into Sunday. North winds will drop our highs from the upper 50s on Saturday down into the low 40s on Sunday, bringing us some of the chilliest weather so far this fall. Overnight lows will likely fall into the 20s state wide Sunday and Monday nights. The colder conditions could bring some wintry weather to parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin on Saturday. It remains to be seen if any of that will be able to drop south into Iowa. Something to watch for the week ahead.Keep an eye on weather across Iowa with vlog's skycamsWeather watchers can keep an eye on conditions by checking our skycam page, which shows aerial views from more than 20 sites across the state.Iowa weather forecast:Today: A mainly sunny sky.
