In a heroic rescue effort, the New Smyrna Beach Fire Department in Florida successfully freed a bird entangled in a fishing line high in a tree on Feb. 1.Firefighters said they received a report of a distressed heron. Upon arriving, they found the bird with a fishing line around its leg. Crews used their tower truck to disentangle the bird and realized its leg was injured.The firefighters said they called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to take care of the bird.
