Carnival, Disney cancel cruises through May

Carnival, Disney cancel cruises through May
cruise ships have sat idle since March 13th and ah hoped for October Restart doesn't look possible. Hundreds of millions of dollars air going, unspent wages and salaries unearned. The cruise industry does have a long reach from the theme parks and recreational activities. The Orlando International Airport thio Everything in our central Florida region AH passenger transportation company at Port Canaveral has laid off all but six of its staff of 25. The charter fishing industry has dropped off. The commercial fishing industry is doing okay, but even commercial fishing interests want the cruise industry back. Seafood Atlantic is filling its counters with fresh catch, but its owner fears for the ports very survival. Without Port Canaveral, our fishing industry would be pretty much shut down. A new push by Florida's US senators would set the ground rules and set up an approval process for a return of cruising during the pandemic. But port officials don't see a restart this year. On the bright side, though, they say Port Canaveral is well positioned to lead the way for a start up because it's within driving distance of a huge segment of the market. People aren't jumping on planes right now, but they're willing to take a cruise if they could drive there and I think were ideally suited to be one of the first to get started at Port Canaveral. Dan Billow wesh two news.
