Good Samaritan dad and son go viral for protecting unlocked candy shop

Good Samaritan dad and son go viral for protecting unlocked candy shop
It was *** sweet slice of life caught on camera between *** father and his four year old son. When Connor Smith realized this new candy store in their favorite shopping center left its doors unlocked at closing time, he was compelled to do something about it. They went to find *** phone number for the property's security company, then returned, and Dad read the bulk candy rules aloud to his son. As they patiently waited outside the door for *** security guard to come walk up the shop. My first thought was that somebody is going to take advantage of the situation and then what if they feel like they want to close or if they lose too much inventory and they can't stay open, and that would bum my kids out, which would bum me out. It was *** simple but teachable moment about how to help *** neighbor for little Charlie. I didn't know the security guard had to come, but he did come over and help, right? To Candy Shop just opened its newest location here on Canyon Crest Drive in Riverside *** week ago. They just walked off like nothing happened, as if they didn't just save my business that night. When owner Dona Farage found out about the father and son duo's good deed, she posted security video of it on social media and we wanted to properly thank them, so we went ahead and posted it on TikTok as well just to kind of get the word out there. We figured TikTok finds the bad guy very fast, so let's see how long it takes him to find the good guy. *** day. That video has now gone mega viral. It feels very surreal. I feel like I'm kind of living an alternate reality. Dona invited Charlie and his family back over to her chocolate factory for some complimentary sweet treats, and as many on TikTok have pointed out, they deserved the golden ticket. I was like, oh my goodness. My dad got to be on the news. The kind messages they received from strangers all around the world about how they made sure *** door got locked prove that there's *** little magic in the mundane. It's locked.

It was a simple but teachable moment about how to help a neighbor for little Charlie.

Uptown Candy Shop had just opened its newest location in Riverside a week ago.

"They just walked off like nothing happened," owner Donia Farraj said. "As if they didn't just save my business that night."

When Farraj found out about the father-son duo's good deed, she posted the security footage on social media.

"We wanted to properly thank them, so we posted it on TikTok to get the word out there," Farraj said. "We figured TikTok finds the bad guys really fast, so let's see how long it takes them to find the good guy."

After about a day, Farraj connected with Smith and his family, offering them complimentary treats for being a good neighbor.

"It feels surreal, like I'm living in an alternate reality," Smith said.
