TEN MINUTES. THE NCAA IS COMING DOWN HARD ON THE UNIVERSITY OF IOWA FOOTBALL TEAM FOR GAMBLING VIOLATIONS. CARNES ITS SUSPENDED STARTER, NOAH SHANNON FOR THE SEASON. vlog SPORTS DIRECTOR SCOTT JOINS US NOW. SCOTT, THIS IS NOT A DONE DEAL FOR SHANNON THOUGH. CASTALIA THE TEAM CERTAINLY HOPES SO. THEY WILL HELP SHANNON APPEAL THE NCAA’S DECISION IF THE PUNISHMENT IS UPHELD, HOWEVER, IT WILL END THE SENIORS CAREER FOR THE DEFENSIVE LINEMAN FROM AURORA, ILLINOIS, HAS STARTED 28 GAMES FOR THE HAWKEYES. RECENTLY SPOKE TO REPORTERS ABOUT HIS MISTAKE AND HOW HE WAS AWAITING WORD FROM THE NCAA. NOW HE’S GOT THE WORD AND THE COACH IS COMING TO HIS DEFENSE. UNLIKE SOME OTHER PLAYERS INVOLVED IN THE INVESTIGATION, SHANNON DID NOT COMMIT A CRIME. HE ALSO DID NOT BET ON HIS OWN FOOTBALL TEAM. BUT HE DID BET ON AN IOWA TEAM IN ANOTHER SPORT. KIRK BARRON SAYS THE POLICY IN THIS INSTANCE IS TOO HARSH. I THINK IT REALLY NEEDS TO BE RETHOUGHT A LITTLE BIT. I STRONGLY BELIEVE THAT AND I’M HOPING THE APPEAL MAYBE WILL REFLECT SOME PEOPLE RETHINKING THINGS A LITTLE BIT. WE LIVE IN A TOTALLY DIFFERENT WORLD THAN WE DID TWO YEARS AGO, THREE YEARS AGO, AND NOAH’S CASE, HE HAS NOT COMMITTED A CRIME AT ALL. SO NOTHING CRIMINAL COMMIT CRIMES AND GET A LOT LESS OF A PUNISHMENT, WHICH SEEMS KIND OF FUNNY IN SOME WAYS TO CURRENT FOOTBALL PLAYERS. KICKER AARON BLOM AND RECEIVER JACK JOHNSON ARE CRIMINALLY CHARGED WITH TAMPERING WITH RECORDS. BOTH ARE SUSPECTED OF MAKING BETS WHILE UNDER THE AGE OF 21 AND USING ACCOUNTS REGISTERED UNDER THE NAMES OF OTHER PEOPLE. FERENTZ DID NOT UPDATE THEIR STATUSES. WE LEARNED YESTERDAY THAT THERE ARE 11 TOTAL IOWA ATHLETES UNDER NCAA INVESTIGATION. THE UNIVE
