This Election Day — mark your calendar for Nov. 3 — is going to be unlike any we've seen before. In the face of the coronavirus pandemic, states have enacted sweeping changes to their voting rules — with many expanding access to mail-in or absentee voting. Whereas only a quarter of voters used mailed ballots in the 2018 midterm elections, at least 84% of American voters will be able to cast their ballots by mail this fall, according to The Washington Post. Additionally, many states are offering or extending early voting options, which allow registered voters to cast a ballot in person at polling places ahead of Election Day.Whether you're planning to cast your ballot in person or by mail, you need to make sure you're registered to vote.
