Commitment 2022: Ashley Hinson candidate profile
DEMOCRAT LIZ MATHIS. MY NUMBER ONE JOB IS TO STAND UP FOR TAXPAYERS FOR RURAL AMERICA AND FIGHT FOR SAFETY AND SECURITY IN OUR COMMUNITIES. REPUBLICAN ASHLEY HINSON SPENT ONE TERM IN CONGRESS REPRESENTING IOWA’S FIRST CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT. SHE FLIPPED THAT SEAT FROM BLUE TO RED IN 2020, DEFEATING THE ONE TERM REPRESENTATIVE, ABBY FINKENAUER. THANK YOU. NOW HANSON’S TAKING ON A NEW OPPONENT, DEMOCRAT LIZ MATHIS, AND A NEWLY REDRAWN CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT HOPING THE NEW DISTRICT TWO VOTERS WILL SEND HER BACK FOR A SECOND TERM IN CONGRESS. I WILL PROVIDE THE CHECK ON THE BIDEN PELOSI AGENDA. RESTORE OUR ECONOMY, FIGHT FOR A NATION THAT SAFE, A FUTURE BUILT ON FREEDOM AND A GOVERNMENT THAT’S ACCOUNTABLE, ACCOUNTABLE TO THE PEOPLE. HOW DO YOU REPRESENT ALL IOWANS, EVEN IF THEY DISAGREE WITH YOU POLITICALLY? YEAH, WELL, THERE WILL BE ISSUES THAT WE, OF COURSE, PASSIONATELY DISAGREE ON. BUT I THINK I’VE DONE A GREAT JOB REPRESENTING A LOT OF DIFFERENT VIEWPOINTS BECAUSE I GO EVERYWHERE ALL THE TIME AND GO CONNECT WITH IOWANS WHERE THEY ARE. I’M THE ONLY IOWAN ON THE APPROPRIATIONS COMMITTEE. WHICH IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE ULTIMATELY, WHEN IT COMES TO GOVERNMENT SPENDING AND RESPECTING TAXPAYER DOLLARS, WHICH IS MY NUMBER ONE JOB AND MY NUMBER ONE GOAL IS TO ADVOCATE FOR TAXPAYERS. I’VE BEEN ABLE TO DELIVER RE-INVESTMENT BACK IN THE DISTRICT IN A VERY TARGETED WAY. POINTING TO ACTIONS, SHE’S TAKEN ON ISSUES LIKE ENERGY INDEPENDENCE AND THE SUPPLY CHAIN, HINSON ENCOURAGES VOTERS TO LOOK AT HER CONGRESSIONAL RECORD. BUT SHE ALSO SAYS THERE’S MORE WORK TO BE DONE ON CAPITOL HILL. WE’VE REINVESTED ESSENTIAL RESOURCES BACK IN IOWA TO SUPPORT EMERGENCY PERSONNEL AND MANAGEMENT. WE’VE SUPPORTED TARGETED INVESTMENTS IN INFRASTRUCTURE, HEALTH CARE, CHILD CARE. AND AGAIN, I’VE WORKED ON SO MANY OF THESE ISSUES THAT ARE A DIRECT RESULT OF THE FEEDBACK I’VE GOTTEN FROM IOWANS OUT IN THE DISTRICT. SO I’D LIKE THE OPPORTUNITY TO CONTINUE THAT WORK FOR IOWANS. ASHLEY HINSON IS A WIFE AND A MOM TO TWO BOYS. SHE’S A WEST DES MOINES NATIVE AND STARTED HER CAREER AS AN ON AIR REPORTER IN EASTERN IOWA. SHE SERVED FOUR YEARS AS A STATE REPRESENTATIVE BEFORE SHE WAS ELECTED TO THE U.S. HOUSE IN 2020. NOW, TOMORROW AT FIVE, WE’LL INTRODUCE YOU TO THE DEMOCRAT RUNNING IN THIS RACE. LIZ MATHIS.
