What to know about UMass football
Simply put, UMass shouldn't cause too much trouble for Iowa.
The Minutemen jumped up from the FCS to the FBS in 2012. Since then, UMass has not registered a single winning season. Its best season since 2012 was a pair of back-to-back 4-8 records in 2017 and 2018.
UMass finished 2-10 a year ago and let go of coach Don Brown. He was replaced this past offseason by Joe Harasymiak, most recently the defensive coordinator at Rutgers from 2022-24.
Harasymiak's tenure at UMass has not gotten off to an ideal start. UMass is 0-2, losing 42-10 to Temple in Week 1 and following it up with a 27-26 home loss to Bryant, an FCS team with a 2-10 record a year ago. In fact, after Week 2.
UMass has used three quarterbacks so far, but none of them has thrown a touchdown pass.
