Game of the week
It's Valley-Dowling on Friday night in the battle of West Des Moines.
vlog sports reporter will be at Valley Stadium, where the Maroons and Tigers kick off at 7 p.m. Both teams are 1-0 this year, with Valley snapping Southeast Polk's 22-game winning streak last week and Dowling beating Cedar Rapids Kennedy.
Dowling shut out Valley in last year's meeting, 14-0, and finished with a 9-2 record. The Maroons lost to Ankeny in the Class 5A quarterfinals. The Tigers reached the 5A semifinals, where they lost to eventual champion Southeast Polk and finished 6-6.

Waukee's Beckett Bakker leads all 5A quarterbacks with 321 passing yards after Week 1 and is tied with three others for the touchdown lead with 3. He returns to the field Friday for the rivalry game against Waukee Northwest and quarterback Mack Heitland, who there for 189 yards and 2 touchdowns, along with 2 interceptions,
Waukee opened the season with a 59-14 win against Ames, and Northwest lost to Johnston, 28-17.

College football season is here and vlog has 16 straight Saturdays of games between Aug. 31's kickoff and Dec. 14's Army-Navy game, including the Cy-Hawk rivalry on Saturday and the Big Ten Championship on Dec. 7.

Cy-Hawk kickoff is at 2:30 from Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, followed by CBS' College Football Postgame Show at 6 and our local postgame show at 6:30.
