STATE FAIR TIME AND SOME MORE OF THAT FOOD IS GETTING TASTY. OH MY GOSH. WAS IT EVER SO WE HAD THE INCREDIBLE OPPORTUNITY TO GO TO THE IOWA STATE FAIRGROUNDS YESTERDAY AND TRY OUT THE NEW STATE FAIR FOODS. IT WAS A TOUGH JOB, BUT SOMEBODY HAD TO DO IT CHICKEN SANDWICH ON THE RIGHT WITH A DONUT BUN. MMM, AND THEN WHAT YOU’RE SEEING HERE, IS IT JUST A VARIETY OF DESSERTS SOME SAVORY MEALS THAT WE GOT TO TRY FROM ALL OVER THE EGG WENT ON. THE LEFT WAS REALLY GOOD. IT HAD SOME SPICY SAUCE YET. THERE WAS A SPICY EGG SANDWICH, BUT OUR DIFFICULT JOB WAS NARROWING ALL OF THESE DOWN TO TOP THREE FOR THE IN-STATE FAIR GOERS TO SELECT THEIR FAVORITE FAIR FOOD. ONCE THE FAIR BEGINS. The Iowa State Fair unveiled 10 new foods for the 2022 fair.Local celebrities, including vlog’s Stacey Horst, Alyx Sacks, Eric Hanson and Steve Karlin, got a first taste of the treats on Tuesday.The new foods include the Minty Moo Parfait, Puff Sundae, Eggo-O-Fuego, Pork Belly Bao Buns, Blue Ribbon Cobbler, Chuckie’s Tenderloin Wrap, Pork Picnic in a Cup, OMG Chicken Sandwich, Dawghouse Reuben Sandwich and The Finisher.Taste testers listed the Pork Picnic in a Cup, the OMG Chicken Sandwich and The Finisher as top three finalists. You can find the Pork Picnic in a Cup at the Iowa Pork Tent. The OMG Chicken Sandwich can be found at Chicken City. Look for The Finisher at The Rib Shack.The top three new Fair foods will compete for the coveted 2022 Iowa State Fair People’s Choice Best New Food. Fairgoers can sample the top three finalists and cast their vote starting Thursday, Aug. 11, through Monday, Aug. 15, at midnight.
