Iowa weather: Storms and heavy rain possible tonight and tomorrow

Iowa weather: Storms and heavy rain possible tonight and tomorrow
GOODNESS, MAN. OKAY, WELL, EVERYBODY DOING THEIR PART AND YOU’VE BEEN DOING YOUR PART TRYING TO KEEP US INFORMED ABOUT ALL THAT WEATHER THAT’S BEEN COMING OUR WAY LAST COUPLE OF DAYS. IF THE RAIN COULD JUST SLOW DOWN A LITTLE BIT AND JUST MAYBE GIVE US A FEW DAYS OFF. YEAH. WE NEED A LITTLE BIT OF A BREAK TO KIND OF DRAIN WHAT WE HAVE AND WHAT HAS FALLEN. AND WE WILL GET A BREAK, BUT WE HAVE TO GET THROUGH TONIGHT AND TOMORROW BEFORE WE GET SOME DRY TIME IN HERE FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY LIVE. LOOK OUTSIDE RIGHT NOW. WE’VE GOT A DARK SKY, OBVIOUSLY, BUT IT’S MOSTLY CLEAR HERE ACROSS CENTRAL IOWA. DEW POINTS STILL IN THE 70S, TEMPERATURES STILL IN THE LOW 80S FEELS CLOSE TO 90 DEGREES RIGHT NOW AS WE HEAD INTO THE 10:00 HOUR. SO WE STILL HAVE THAT UNCOMFORTABLE HUMIDITY AND THE UNCOMFORTABLE HEAT WITH US HERE THROUGHOUT THE DAY TODAY AND INTO THE NIGHT TONIGHT, RAIN SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MOVING OUT OF EASTERN NEBRASKA, PUSHING INTO FAR NORTHWESTERN IOWA. HERE THIS EVENING. NOT TOO MUCH ON THE RADAR, BUT THIS IS STARTING TO FILL IN JUST A LITTLE BIT. SO OVER TOWARDS SAC CITY LAKE, DOWN THROUGH PORTIONS OF CARROLL COUNTY. THEY’RE BACK INTO DENISON AS WELL. SOME HEAVIER RAIN FALLING. THERE WILL BE POCKETS OF SOME HEAVIER, MORE TORRENTIAL DOWNPOURS OUT THERE. ALL OF THIS. THAT’S DEVELOPING OUT INTO EASTERN NEBRASKA IS GOING TO CONTINUE TO FILL INTO NORTHWESTERN IOWA. SO THAT’S WHY WE HAVE THE CONCERN FOR SOME MORE LOCALIZED FLOODING, POTENTIALLY OVERNIGHT TONIGHT AND INTO THE START OF THE DAY TOMORROW, WHERE WE HAVE THAT FLASH FLOOD WARNING HERE IN THE RED BOX, YOU CAN SEE THESE ARE RADAR ESTIMATED RAIN TOTALS FROM THE PAST 12 HOURS. SO RADAR PICKING UP ANYWHERE FROM TWO AND A HALF TO CLOSE TO 4.5IN THERE WHERE THAT FLASH FLOOD WARNING IS. AND IF WE HAVE MORE RAIN ON TOP OF THAT, WE COULD EASILY GET UP TO 4 OR 5 SIX INCHES OF RAINFALL HERE AS WE HEAD INTO THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS. SO THAT FLASH FLOOD WARNING GOES UNTIL 1115. THERE COULD BE MORE FLASH FLOODING CONCERNS OVERNIGHT TONIGHT FOR CENTRAL IOWA. I THINK WE STAY DRY. THE RAINFALL THAT WE GOT TODAY JUST UNDER TWO INCHES, PUTS US AT STILL A LITTLE BIT OF A DEFICIT FOR RAINFALL TOTAL FOR JUNE, ABOUT A HALF AN INCH OR SO BELOW WHERE WE SHOULD BE FOR THIS MONTH. BUT WE’RE STILL MAKING UP SOME GROUND. WE’LL HAVE MORE RAIN ARRIVING TOMORROW AFTERNOON AND EVENING. DEW POINTS STILL WELL INTO THE 70S, SO WE’VE GOT A LOT OF MOISTURE OUT THERE FOR THOSE STORMS TO TAP INTO. A LITTLE BIT OF A DIP IN THE HUMIDITY AND MUGGINESS THERE ON FRIDAY, BUT THEN IT GOES RIGHT BACK UP TO FEELING PRETTY OPPRESSIVE BY THE START OF YOUR WEEKEND. SO SHOWERS STORMS CONTINUE TO FILL IN ACROSS NORTHWEST IOWA TONIGHT. CENTRAL SOUTHERN EASTERN IOWA MAINLY QUIET THIS EVENING. TOMORROW MORNING, SOME LEFTOVER RAIN. THEN WE GET A LITTLE BREAK NOTICE BY THE AFTERNOON. THIS IS AROUND 2 P.M. WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A LINE OF STORMS THAT TRIES TO DEVELOP TOWARDS THE SECOND HALF OF THE DAY TOMORROW, THAT WILL START TO KIND OF BLOSSOM, PUSH THROUGH CENTRAL IOWA BY DINNERTIME, LIKELY, AND THEN THOSE SHOWERS AND STORMS ROLL OUT OF HERE INTO EASTERN IOWA BY THURSDAY EVENING. AND THEN FINALLY WE’LL DRY THINGS OUT HEADING INTO THE DAY ON FRIDAY. SO TONIGHT’S FORECAST BACK INTO THE LOW 70S. TOMORROW. WE’LL TAKE THINGS ANYWHERE FROM MID AND UPPER 70S INTO NORTHERN AND NORTHWESTERN IOWA TO MID AND UPPER 80S ACROSS CENTRAL AND SOUTHEASTERN IOWA. 85 ON FRIDAY, 90 SATURDAY. I THINK WE STAY IN THE LOW 90S SUNDAY WITH A LITTLE CHANCE FOR SOME RAIN THERE FOR THE END OF YOUR WEEKEND. OTHERWISE, NEXT WEEK WE’RE BACK INTO THE MID AND UPPER 80S DRIER WEAT

We have a front hanging out in southern Minnesota which is the focal point for storms in far northern Iowa. More storms have developed out in eastern Nebraska and northwest Iowa. Heavy rain and wind would be the big concern for us tonight. Interactive Radar | Weather AlertsThe tornado threat is mainly confined to southern Minnesota and into northeast Iowa this evening. Lightning and downpours will continue with any storms we do see tonight. The flood watch is up for northwest Iowa as that will be the focus for a lot of the activity tonight into the overnight hours – repeated downpours over the same area, could create localized flash flooding concerns. Then once again we head into Thursday with another round of showers and storms through the afternoon. Once again a marginal risk for stronger storms will exist. Finally we should see a break in rain and storms for Friday into Saturday. Humidity stays elevated though, and temperatures will be back up near 90 for the weekend.
