Iowa weather: Cooler air is finally here and the mugginess will be gone soon as well
THAT’S RIGHT. SO NOW, JASON, WE NEED SOME GOOD WEATHER FOR FAN FEST AND EVERYTHING ELSE GOING ON THESE DAYS. I DON’T SEE HOW IT COULD GET ANY MORE PERFECT. HONESTLY. I MEAN, WE’RE TALKING. THE DEW POINTS ARE GOING TO DROP. HUMIDITY DROPS, TEMPERATURES STAYING IN THE 70S, AND WE’LL HAVE PARTLY CLOUDY SKIES TO GO ALONG WITH THAT. SO I KNOW WE’VE GOT SOME RAIN OUT THERE RIGHT NOW, BUT REALLY GOOD THINGS HEADED OUR WAY FOR THE NEXT FIVE DAYS OR SO. YOU CAN SEE THE SHOWERS FROM SIOUX CENTER UPWARDS TOWARDS SPENCER, AND THEN A LONE RUMBLER THERE OUT NEAR HARLAN. OTHERWISE, YOU ZOOM OUT STATEWIDE AND WELL, WE DON’T HAVE A WHOLE LOT GOING ON OUT THERE AS IT’S STAYING FAIRLY QUIET SOUTH OF THAT MAIN BATCH DID HAVE THE WETTEST JULY ON RECORD. I KNOW WE STILL HAVE A FEW DAYS LEFT, BUT NOT A TON MORE RAIN IN THE FORECAST FOR US THROUGH THE END OF JULY. BUT WE TOOK THAT RECORD FROM 1958. THEY WERE AT 10.5IN. WE TOPPED OUT SO FAR AT 10.62IN, SO RAIN CHANCES AGAIN DWINDLE AS WE HEAD INTO THE EVENING AND OVERNIGHT. AND BY TOMORROW MORNING, SKIES CLEAR OUT AND WE KEEP THOSE CLEAR AS WE HEAD INTO THE AFTERNOON AND EVENING. TEMPERATURES FRIDAY MORNING, FOR SOME OF US ARE GOING TO BE DIPPING BACK DOWN INTO THE LOW 50S. IT’S GOING TO BE ONE OF THE COOLEST MORNINGS WE’VE HAD IN A WHILE. IT IS GOING TO FEEL SO REFRESHING. WINDOWS OPEN WEATHER STICKS AROUND FOR A BIT TOO. FRIDAY YOU CAN SEE SOME CLOUDS AND PERHAPS A STRAY SHOWER TO THE NORTHWEST, BUT WE WON’T SEE ANY SUBSTANTIAL CHANCES FOR RAIN UNTIL SUNDAY, WHERE WESTERN PORTIONS OF THE STATE COULD SEE SOME SHOWERS BUT COULD SEE A THIN LAYER OF SMOKE OUT THERE AS WE HEAD THROUGHOUT THE DAY TOMORROW. YOU CAN SEE THAT BILLOWING ITS WAY IN FROM THE GREAT LAKES, AND THAT WILL CONTINUE TO KIND OF SHIFT AROUND A BIT INTO THE DAY ON FRIDAY. NOT NECESSARILY ANY HUGE AIR QUALITY IMPACTS, BUT MAYBE A LITTLE BIT OF A HAZE IN SPOTS TEMPERATURE WISE TOMORROW. MID TO UPPER 70S. WE WILL HAVE SOME CLOUDS OUT THERE FOR MUCH OF THE DAY, BUT AGAIN, THE LATER YOU GET INTO THE DAY, I THINK THE LESS CLOUDS THAT WE’LL HAVE ROAMING AROUND ABOVE US. TAKING A LOOK AT THAT CHANCE FOR SOME SHOWERS ON SUNDAY, YOU CAN SEE THAT’S LARGELY WEST, I’D SAY, OF JEFFERSON WEST OF ALGONA, EVEN WEST OF CRESTON. BUT IT WILL BE A CHANCE. IT JUST WON’T BE THAT WIDESPREAD AND HEADING IN TOWARDS MONDAY, THAT CHANCE CONTINUES TO SLOWLY PUSH ITS WAY OFF TO THE EAST. WE’VE GOT HIGH PRESSURE SET UP OVER THE GREAT LAKES. IT’S GOING TO TRY TO KEEP MOST OF THIS AWAY, BUT WE’LL SEE HOW MUCH OF THAT CAN ACTUALLY SHIFT ITS WAY EASTWARD. 63 DEGREES TONIGHT WE HAVE GOT A MUCH QUIETER NIGHT THAN WE’VE HAD FOR THE PAST COUPLE, AND TOMORROW WE’RE BACK UP TO 76 AGAIN. WE ARE NOT LOOKING AT MUGGY CONDITIONS AT ALL TOMORROW. THAT EIGHT DAY FORECAST, THAT MUGGY, MUGGY CONDITIONS WON’T BE HERE FOR A BIT. TEMPERATURES HOLDING STEADY IN THE MID TO UPPER 70S FOR THE END OF THE WEEKEND. AGAIN, THAT WESTERN PORTION OF THE STATE ON SUNDAY WE’LL HAVE THAT CHANCE FOR SOME SHOWERS. THOSE BECOME SLIGHTLY MORE WIDESPREAD ON MONDAY, BUT YOU LOOK AHEAD TOWARDS THE START OF THE STATE FAIR ON THURSDAY AND OUR COOL DOWN. WE KNEW IT COULDN’T LAST FOR LONG, BUT AWFULLY NICE THAT WE GET QUITE A FEW DAYS IN A ROW OF IT.
