Iowa weather: Flood watch for parts of Polk, Dallas counties; tornado touches down in Humboldt County
Storms blew through central and north central Iowa earlier this evening, some causing severe thunderstorm warnings. An apparent tornado even touched down in Humboldt County.

Jeff Habben with Humboldt County Secondary Roads Department shared this video with vlog, showing a tornado touching down. It happened around 4:10 p.m. north of the small town of Hardy, near the intersection of 120th and Virginia.
The storm traveled east and remained in the field causing minor crop damage, according got Humboldt County officials. No injuries were reported.
Starting to dry out Friday after wet, stormy stretch
Storms will push out late overnight and we will have some dry days. Friday will be pretty comfortable with highs in the mid- and low-80s under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies.
Saturday will bring back the heat and humidity with highs near 90 and heat index in the mid- and upper-90s. Sunday will haul a cold front over the state in the afternoon which will bring back storm chances again. These will be another round of heavy rain and potential stronger storms.

Flood watches for several Iowa rivers
Flood watches are in effect for the following Iowa rivers:
- Cedar River at Cedar Falls affecting Black Hawk County
- Cedar River at Waterloo affecting Black Hawk County
- Winnebago River at Mason City affecting Cerro Gordo, Worth and Floyd counties
- Raccoon River at Des Moines Fleur Drive affecting Polk County
- North Raccoon River near Perry affecting Dallas County.
Power outages reported south of Des Moines metro
Nearly 1,000 MidAmerican Energy Company customers are without power as of 6:15 p.m. According to the company's outage tracker, that includes more than 300 in the Hartford area and another 200-plus in Warren County.
Severe thunderstorm warning pushes northeast
A strong storm system continues to push northeast. The latest severe thunderstorm warning, in effect through 6:30 p.m., includes parts of Poweshiek, Marshall, Black Hawk, Tama, Grundy and Jasper counties, where radar has indicated 60 mph wind gusts.
The National Weather Service says for people who live in that area, "For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building."
Tornado warning expires in north-central Iowa
A severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Kanawha, or 16 miles north of Clarion, around 4:21 p.m. — moving east at 25 mph. The tornado warning was in effect through 5 p.m., including northeastern Wright and southern Hancock counties.
"Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter," according to the National Weather Service. "Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is likely."

The new work week will be more comfortable and calmer. Highs will return to the mid-80s and lows in the 60s.
The dry weather will last for most of the week with possible rain chances for the 4th of July weekend.
Severe thunderstorm warnings
Separate severe thunderstorm warnings are in effect for areas in southwest and north-central Iowa. Both are in effect through 3:45 p.m.
In southwest Iowa, portions of Union, Adams, Taylor and Adair counties are warned about a storm spotted near Corning Municipal Airport and moving northeast at 35 mph. Threats include 60 mph wind gusts, which can damage homes and trees.
In north-central Iowa, portions of Franklin, Grundy and Butler counties are worned about a storm spotted near Allison and moving northeast at 45 mph. Threats include 70 mph wind gusts, which can cause considerable damage to homes and trees.
The NWS warns people loctated in both areas: "For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building."
