Nearly two months after beloved NHL player Johnny Gaudreau and his brother, Matthew, were killed by a suspected drunk driver, the Columbus Blue Jackets honored the two during their first home game of the NHL season.Johnny Gaudreau, 31, and Matthew Gaudreau, 29, were struck by a suspected drunk driver while riding bikes on a New Jersey road on Aug. 29, just hours before they were set to be groomsmen in their sister's wedding.In addition to two seasons with the Blue Jackets, Johnny Gaudreau spent his first nine NHL seasons with the Calgary Flames.The brothers attended Boston College and were teammates during the 2013-14 season. Matthew Gaudreau was a hockey player with the Minor League Reading Royals.On Tuesday night, the Blue Jackets honored Johnny and Matthew by running 13 seconds off the clock to start the game, representing Johnny's jersey number in Columbus.There was also a pregame moment of silence, each player wore Johnny's No. 13 during warmups and the No. 13 was frozen into the ice behind each net at Nationwide Arena.All fans in attendance at the club's home game on Tuesday received a “13” patch like the ones players will be wearing on their jerseys throughout the season.The Blue Jackets took on the Florida Panthers Tuesday night.
