His wife, Whitney Slough, told that he is recovering in a Miami hospital, three weeks after the incident.

"He is doing OK after that surgery, so we are now trying to figure out our plan of when we can get transferred to Dallas and what that looks like," Slough said.

The family is pushing Bahamian authorities to charge the boat's three occupants, who were briefly detained but later released.

"I want justice for Brent," Whitney said of her husband, a former Army Ranger. She also said she hopes that people who support her husband and their cause to have the boat occupants charged will help put pressure on authorities in the Bahamas.

"I feel like the more people that are calling them, the better to keep this front and center, so they really pursue criminal charges against these men that did this to Brent," she told KTVT's J.D. Miles, in part.

Friends of the Slough family are raising funds to cover medical expenses, including a medical flight for Brent's return to Texas, which could happen as soon as next week.
