Mystique Ro aims for Olympic debut after successful 2025 season
American skeleton slider is recovering from a knee injury and preparing for her first Olympic appearance after a successful 2025 season. Ro, who suffered a knee hyperextension last October during the International Bobsled and Skeleton Federation season, is optimistic about her progress.
"It's coming on pretty good, and some rehab, and I'm using the sports facilities here; it's been really great to help with that," Ro said.
Despite the injury occurring just weeks before the Ro achieved her best performance at the IBSF World Championships, earning a silver medal in the individual women's race and a gold medal in the mixed team competition.
"It's very reassuring. It's nice knowing that we have a good system and trust in the coaches and staff that we have a plan, even though things might have had a rocky start, that it ended where it needed to," Ro said.
Competing at Lake Placid's Mount Van Hoevenberg during the 2025 World Championships, Ro felt at ease and supported by her team.
"I felt more relaxed. Honestly, I felt more comfortable. Like I've said, I'm very familiar with the track, but I also had people who have been supporting me from day one and gave me a place to work, to give me some more stability when I needed it," Ro said.
With her first set of IBSF medals secured, Ro is now focused on achieving her childhood dream of
"That would be really awesome a big childhood dream being realized so I am very excited to be there in Cortina," Ro said.
Ro is eager to earn her first set of medals as part of at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
