New Hampshire veterans move into campus dedicated to veteran community
Veterans are now moving into New Hampshire's first all-in-one space for veterans and their families.
The 29 permanently affordable housing units are part of what will become the .
Army veteran Brad Glaski said he was having a hard time finding an affordable place to live with his son.
"Being a single veteran, especially on disability, was quite a struggle," he said.
He said he heard about plans for the Easterseals campus a few years ago.
"I actually was lucky," he said. "I got the last apartment that they had available."
The community is for service members and their families.
"Easterseals had this campus, and next thing you know, the housing was going to be here, the retreat center could be here," said Maureen Beauregard, president and CEO of Easterseals.
The campus will also include a space for veteran services, a hotel and conference center, along with equine, canine and aquatic therapy, all to support New Hampshire's veterans.
"To work through PTSD, depression, etc.," Beauregard said. "That's the whole emphasis of this campus."
Allen Aldenberg, chief military and veterans service officer for Easterseals, said he can't wait to see the impact the space will have on the people who live there.
"Maybe one of those things is going to touch a veteran, and that's the key that gets them back into a better place or heading into a better direction," he said.
The first phase of the project will be wrapping up in just a few weeks with the completion of the conference center, hotel space and veterans service center. The entire project is expected to be done next year.
