It really works! Pop-Tarts Bowl trophy toasts Pop-Tarts ahead of coaches' news conference
Pop-Tarts Bowl representatives showed off the game's trophy/toaster ahead of Friday morning's news conference with Iowa State coach Matt Campbell and Miami's Mario Cristobal.
The new trophy, which will go to the winner of Saturday afternoon's game, features a fully functional GE Appliances toaster built into the silver football that sits atop three levels.
A bowl representative gave a live demonstration Friday morning, putting two Pop-Tarts into the trophy/toaster while listing concession items that will be available during the game.

It took about 90 seconds for the Pop-Tarts to pop out of the toaster. Each coach was given a Pop-Tart, but it didn't look like either ate theirs.
Kickoff at Camping World Stadium in Orlando is set for 2:30 p.m. CT Saturday.
Bowl history
Originally titled the Blockbuster Bowl, the game was born in Miami in 1990, the says. In 2023, Pop-Tarts signed a multi-year agreement with Florida Citrus Sports to be the new title sponsor of the game.
This will be the first matchup between Iowa State and Miami. Both have played in this bowl game, but only when the game was under a different name.
Since its beginning in 1990, the Pop-Tarts Bowl has had several names, including the Cheez-It Bowl and the Camping World Bowl, both of which Iowa State has played under Matt Campbell. The Hurricanes have played in this game six times, most recently losing 37-34 in the 2020 Cheez-It Bowl to Oklahoma State.
Iowa State is making its third trip to this bowl game. The Cyclones are 0-2, losing 33-9 in the 2019 Camping World Bowl and 20-13 in the 2021 Cheez-It Bowl.
