Yeah, yeah, grocery delivery apps are all about convenience. Sure. You know you're paying *** delivery fee and *** tip. But I've been getting emails from several of you saying it seems like we're paying more for the actual item on the app Instacart than you would if you bought the same exact thing in the same store. The actual item being more money. I need to know if this is true. You want to know if it's true. But don't worry, I'm not just gonna find that out. I'm gonna give you *** solution as well. How to find the cheaper prices on Instacart. We're doing an apples to apples comparison literally. So I have *** grocery list right here. Okay. And I'm in Instacart and I'm at *** local grocery store and I am literally going down this grocery list and ordering everything. Then I am going to go to the store itself. Okay. Hope I don't run into my Instacart shopper. That'd be awkward. But anyway, I'm gonna go to the grocery store itself or to the same exact stuff. Let's see which cost more. Okay, my Instacart order is in and now I'm shopping the aisles in person. I start running down my grocery list and I'm already noticing *** major difference. Okay, the tide here. $9.49 in the store. I'm checking Instacart on Instacart. I paid 10 99 for this. So *** dollar 50 more on Instacart than here in the store. All right, these granola bars, 15 99 here in the grocery store on Instacart. I already 18 39 for these same exact box, 18 39 $2.40 more on Instacart much cheaper in the store, grabbing this bowl of fruit. So look at this $20 here in the grocery store. Guess what? I paid for this on Instacart. And remember they came shopping at the same store 22 99. Nearly $3 more for this. And remember this doesn't include the fees and tips you pay on Instacart. These are the price differences on the groceries themselves. You know what comes next? The results. This is everything I bought on Instacart. This is it right here and I have *** pile of everything I bought from the grocery store right here and you can see it is the same stuff. I mean it's the same exact brands, same exact peanut butter, same exact everything. So this is *** real comparison. Here we go. From Instacart. The groceries cost me $185.02 1 85 02 for Instacart, same exact stuff from the grocery store. This pile, $159.94. That is *** difference. *** savings by shopping in the grocery store of $25 and eight cents. That's *** lot. Our goal is to offer full transparency to customers as they shop on the platform so they can make choices best suited to their needs. So how can you fight the price hikes on the app? Click right here on the retailer, Then here at the top tap this view pricing policy. This will tell you how the prices differ from in the store. At Wegmans here for example, it says prices are higher on the app than in the store, about 15% higher. Here's what you want to look for every day. Store prices, which means everything on the app matches the prices in the store and by the way, insta cart has coupons to under some items. Look for banners like this. Just tap on it. It'll send you *** coupon right to your cart for checkout. This will help you save big Yeah, we bought *** lot of food to do this research. We're donating all of it to *** local food pantry. It’s a great alternative for people who can’t go to the store as well. But after we saw messages about how some apps charge more for each item, we had to investigate. All you have to do is click on the retailer’s logo on the website or the app. Then it says “View Pricing Policy”. It will tell you some of the following; if the prices are higher than in the store, if it varies, or if they offer “everyday store prices”, which are the prices you’ll find in the store.
