'She never let down': Dog survives attack from mountain lion while defending family
D. W. R. Officers say it's not uncommon to see *** mountain lion in this neighborhood. It's close to the foothills here in cedar hills. However an attack on humans is very rare fortunately *** family dog wasn't going to let that happen. Ella, our dog was actually up on her rock wall on hot summer days like what we've been having lately. You can't blame the family dog for wanting to be in the shade. She usually is down in the pool with the kids but Ella isn't laying down for *** break, she's *** little out of it because of what happened to her last night and she was just on point she's *** hunting dog but she was on point little did crystal Michaelis know there was *** mountain lion in her yard while her kids were playing and Ella was watching it the whole time. She kept looking at the kids and then quickly looking back and she just kind of was very cautious and my daughter thought it was very concerning once the kids went inside something happened between L. ***. And the mountain lion. The family didn't know about it until they heard Ella at their door found Ella Um just bloodied, there's blood all over the door and all over the patio that fight to keep the mountain lion away and caused injuries to ella like cuts on her head and nose, her tongue legs and neck as well as more than 30 bites on her body. Her vet says all of her injuries were to the front of her which means she never let down and stayed in that protective stance and defend it. So this neighborhood is in the foothills of cedar hills and D. W. R. Officers say it's not uncommon to see mountain lions here. They've also seen deer wandering through this area. And since deer are kind of the main food source for Cougars, they will often follow where deer go. As for Ella and her family feels she's *** hero protecting the kids with everything she had definitely can't be replaced. That's for sure. Again, no sighting today of that Mountain lion DWR officers just want people in the area to be on alert as far as L. ***. The dog, she should make *** full recovery. No word yet on what her big treat will be once she's able to eat again In Cedar Hills, Alex Cabrero KSL five News.
