URBANDALE. ERIC: WE HAVE BREAKING NEWS, NO CLASSES TODAY AT URBANDALE HIGH SCHOOL. WHY NOT THE WHOLE DISTRICT? DD:TO WE ARE SITTING IN FRONT OF THE HIGH SCHOOL, YOU CAN SEE THERE APPEARSO T BE A FEW LIGHTS ON. THE TROUBLE IS, THERE ARE SEOM POWER ISSUES WHERE THERE IS NO POWER IN THE SCHOOL. THE SUPERINTENDENT SAYS THEY ARE NOT HAVING CLASSES AT URBANDALE HIGH SCHOOL TODAY BECAUSE THE POWER IS OUT. SOME OF THE LIGHTS WE ARE SEEING OUT WE ARE ASSUMING OUR SECURITY LIGHTS. ALL OTHER URBANDALE SCHOOLS WILL HAVE SCHOOL TODAY, SO JUST THE HIGH SCHOOL IS WITHOUT POWER. THIS IS JUST ONE RESULT OF THE STORM OVERNIGHT. ABTOU THE 2800 BLOCK O49F TH STREET, THERE WAS A LARGE EVERGREEN TREE THAT CEAM CRASHING DOWN, PULLED DOWN A POWER LINE. PARTS OF BEAVERDALE LOST POWER. CREWS HAVE BNEE ABLE TO PUT UP A NEW POWER POLE. POWER HAS BEEN RESTORED, THERE IS L AOT OF DEBRIS. KEEP THAT MIGHT IF YOU ARE GOING THROUGH. WE TALKED TO THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR, HE SD EYTHAI HAVE ONLY 20 REPORTS OF TREES DOWN, THEY WERE PREPARED FOR A MUCH BIGGER STORM DAMAGE AMOUNT. THEY DO HAVE CWSRE OUT IN THE AREA LOOKING AT ROADS TO MAKE SURE THEY DID NOT MISS ANYTHING. WE ALSO NRA IONT CRAZY SIGN DAMAGE OUT IN WEST DES MOINES. THIS IS NEAR THE WHOLE FOODS AND IN THE BEST BUY PARKING LOT THEY ARE AT THE WATER TOWER SHOPPING CENTER PLAZA. THE WIND KNOCKED OVER ONE OF THE BIG MONUMENT SIGNS RIGHT NEAR 42 ANDND UNIVERSITY IN WEST DES MOINES. LUCKILY, NO INJURIES. NO INJURIES IN DES MOINES FOR MANY OF THE DAMAGE WE HAVE SEEN. Widespread storm damage in Iowa has forced several schools to delay or cancel classes.The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows School District is closed Thursday. The superintendent told vlog there's no damage to the school buildings themselves, but the roads are not passable for buses and power lines are down.Urbandale High School is not holding classes Thursday due to a power outage. It's just the high school and not the entire district, school officials told vlog.Willard Elementary School and King Elementary School in Des Moines are also without power. North High School has only partial power, which also means some operating systems such as heat, are not working properly. School officials told vlog classes are cancelled at those schools Thursday.
