I HAVE A VEST SAYS HER MOM USED TO TAKE HER TO BIBLE SCHOOL IN A HORSE AND BUGGY AND FOR MUCH OF HER CHILDHOOD. SHE DIDN’T HAVE ELECTRICITY. IT WAS REALLY AWESOME TO HEAR ABOUT HER LIFE. AND THIS IS THE ADVICE THE BIRTHDAY GIRL WANTS US ALL TO HEAR. I WAS AN ONLY CHILD SO I LOVED DOLLS WHEN I HAVE A VEST WAS BORN IN 1917 LIFE WAS VERY DIFFERENT. I RODE HORSEBACK TO SCHOOL SHE GREW UP ON A FARM IN IOWA AND DIDN’T GET ELECTRICITY AT HOME UNTIL SHE WAS 12 YEARS GUYS IN THE LAMPS AND LANTERNS. SHE ATTENDED COUNTRY SCHOOL. TYPICALLY WHEN THE ENTIRE SCHOOL IS ONE ROOM, AND THERE’S ONE TEACHER MY HUSBAND AND I GRADUATED IN THE SAME CLASS. AND 1934 SHE AND HER HUSBAND WERE MARRIED FOR 55 YEARS. THEY HAD THREE DAUGHTERS AND SEVEN GRANDCHILDREN WHO WENT ON TO EXPAND THE FAMILY ON SUNDAY. HER GREAT-GREAT-GREAT-GRANDDAUGHTER WAS BORN AND THEY NAMED HER IVA. JEAN IVA SAYS TURNING A HUNDRED YEARS OLD FELT SPECIAL AND EVERY BIRTHDAY SINCE FEELS LIKE A BLESSING ON SUNDAY AROUND 70 PEOPLE FROM LOS ALTOS CHRISTIAN CHURCH HELP CELEBRATE THE BIG 105. SHE WORE THE PRETTIEST PINK TIARA AND BIRTHDAY SASH I WAS OUT AND SAW FRIENDS. I HADN’T SEEN FOR QUITE A WHILE WITH MORE THAN A CENTURY OF LIFE EXPERIENCE UNDER HER BELT. THIS IS OUR SECRET TO LIVING TO 105 TRY TO LIVE A GOOD LIFE EAT HEALTHY. SOME REALLY GOOD ADVICE THERE NOW. WE ALSO SPOKE TO IVA’S DAUGHTER WHO DIDN’T WANT TO GO ON CAMERA, BUT SHE SAYS SOMETHING HER MOM TAUGHT HER WAS TO TREAT OTHERS HOW YOU WANT TO BE TREATED JUST A REALLY GREAT MESSAGE FROM A REMARKABLE WOMAN. A New Mexico woman is celebrating her 105th birthday and shares her advice to living a long life.When Iva Vest was born on July 25, 1917, life was very different."I rode horseback to school," Vest said.She grew up on a farm in Iowa and didn't get electricity at home until she was 12."We used kerosene lamps and lanterns," Vest said. She attended country school, which is typically when the entire school is in one room and there's one teacher. She was lucky to meet the love of her life when she was young."My husband and I graduated in the same class and 1934," Vest said.Vest and her husband were married for 55 years. They had three daughters and seven grandchildren, who went on to expand the family. On Sunday, her great-great-great-granddaughter was born. "They named her Iva Jean," Vest saidIva told sister station KOAT that turning 100 years old felt special and every birthday since feels like a blessing. On Sunday, around 70 people from Los Altos Christian Church in Albuquerque helped celebrate her 105th."I was overwhelmed. Saw friends I hadn't seen for quite a while," Vest said.With more than a century of life experience under her belt, she gave this advice: "Try to live a good life. Eat healthy," Vest said.
