Charles Grassley, Iowa's longest-serving U.S. senator, will seek another term in the November general election. The AP reports that 88-year-old Grassley easily defeated challenger Jim Carlin in Tuesday's primary election. The race was called at 8:27 p.m. with less than 10% of votes counted.According to AP estimates, Grassley is projected to win with about 73% of the vote.Grassley, a farmer from New Hartford, is the senator known for the Full Grassley, touring all 99 Iowa counties every year. He said meeting citizens in each county is an important part of the job. “Listening to my constituents, because you can't be a representative of the people if you don't know what's on their minds,” Grassley said.Grassley considers the wind energy tax credit as one of his greatest accomplishments. He even climbed to the top of a turbine despite his fears. “We get 60% of the wind energy from that.
