DETAILS OF THAT COMING UP HERE SHORTLY. JASON. THANK YOU. AUTHORITIES IN DALLAS COUNTY HAVE IDENTIFIED THE MAN KILLED IN AN OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING ON I-80. AS VON ERIC RAYFORD OF WISCONSIN. ACCORDING TO THE DALLAS COUNTY SHERIFF, RAYFORD WAS PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING EARLY TUESDAY MORNING. THIS IS A LIVE LOOK NEAR WHERE THIS ALL HAPPENED. OFFICIALS SAY RAYFORD GOT OUT OF HIS VEHICLE AND FIRED ON DEPUTIES AND POLICE. THEY RETURNED FIRE, KILLING HIM. ACCORDING TO THE DALLAS COUNTY SHERIFF, 51 YEAR OLD ERIC RAYFORD WAS DRIVING A STOLEN VEHICLE WHEN A DEPUTY PULLED HIM OVER EARLY TUESDAY MORNING. DEPUTIES JUST DOING A NORMAL SPEED ENFORCEMENT AND THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE EXITED THE VEHICLE COMPLETELY UNPROVOKED. FOR NO REASON AND STARTED SHOOTING AT OUR DEPUTY. AND THAT’S HOW THE WHOLE THING STARTED. DALLAS COUNTY SHERIFF ADAM INFANTE DESCRIBES THE MOMENT WHEN RAYFORD OPENED FIRE ON DEPUTIES AND LATER STUART POLICE OFFICERS. INFANTE SAYS RAYFORD FIRED THOSE SHOTS FROM A STOLEN GUN. HE SAYS OFFICERS DID NOT RETURN FIRE RIGHT AWAY. IT’S DARK. IT’S WINDY OUT THERE. CAN’T SEE REAL WELL. LUCKILY, IT WAS THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, YOU KNOW, 130 2:00 IN THE MORNING IN RURAL DALLAS COUNTY. IS IS NOT REALLY A DANGER TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. INVESTIGATORS SAY THE OFFICERS AND DEPUTIES INVOLVED IN THE SHOOTING ARE ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE. THE SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT HAS NOT SAID HOW MANY OPENED FIRE OR IDENTIFIED THE OFFICERS. The suspect who was shot and killed Tuesday during a traffic investigation on Interstate 80 west of Des Moines has been identified. The Dallas County Sheriff's Office says Vonderrick Rayford, 51, of Milwaukee, died Tuesday after being shot by deputies and law enforcement officers from other agencies.Rayford was initially pulled over for excessive speeding, according to the Dallas County Sheriff's Office.Authorities said Rayford fired shots at law enforcement "without provocation" during the investigation. Officers and deputies at the scene returned gunfire and hit Rayford, who died at the scene."The deputy was doing a normal speed enforcement. The driver of the vehicle exited the vehicle. Completely unprovoked for no reason. And started shooting at our deputy. That's how the whole thing started," said Adam Infante, the Dallas County sheriff.The vehicle he was driving was reportedly stolen out of Colorado, according to investigators.
