Iowa school closings: List of metro districts dismissing early due to sweltering heat
EVEN THAT METHOD IS HAVING SO MANY MECHANICAL THINGS. YOU’RE JUST SAYING I CAN’T KEEP UP. YES, THAT BUCKET OF YUCK YOU KEEP BRINGING, IT’S JUST BRINGING IT. YEAH, IT IS. BUT YOU’RE TELLING ME IF I WANT TO GO OUTSIDE AND STAY COOL, ALL I GOT TO DO IS DIG A REALLY BIG HOLE. DIG A HOLE AND CLIMB IT REALLY, REALLY, REALLY FAR DOWN. I’M GOING TO BRING MY BUCKET WITH ME. THERE YOU GO. IT’S GOING TO BE PLEASANT, BUT IT IS NOT QUITE THAT PLEASANT OUTSIDE. RIGHT NOW WE’RE AT 82 IN THE METRO UPPER 70S TO LOW 80S ACROSS THE STATE AND WITH THE DEW POINTS WE HAVE WELL, IT IS JUST UNCOMFORTABLE OUTSIDE AND A WEE BIT GROSS. 88 IS WHERE WE’RE SITTING FOR A HEAT INDEX. 93 IN WATERLOO, MIDDLE 80S ACROSS MUCH OF THE STATE, 93 RIGHT NOW IN ANKENY. SO AS YOU HEAD OUT TO YOUR CAR, I KNOW MORNINGS ARE USUALLY A TOUCH COOLER, BUT IT IS HOT OUT AS WE START THE DAY. WE’VE GOT A LITTLE BIT OF A BREEZE OUT OF THE SOUTH SOUTHWEST THAT HAS BEEN DRIVING IN THAT WARMER, HUMID AIR. AND YOU CAN SEE ACROSS THE STATE IT HASN’T KICKED OFF ANY SHOWERS AND REALLY NOT EVEN THAT MUCH CLOUD COVER. SO 12 HOUR FORECAST IS SUNNY, THOUGH IT’S HARD TO IMAGINE ENJOYING THAT WHEN WE’RE TOPPING OUT AT 100 DEGREES AT 3 P.M. WITH HEAT INDICES RANGING FROM 110 TO 115 ACROSS. THE STATE WINS GOING TO BE STRONG. YOU CAN SEE THAT AS WE HEAD THROUGHOUT THE MORNING AND INTO THE AFTERNOON. NOTICE THE WIND SHIFT, THOUGH. WE’RE EVENTUALLY GOING TO SEE A FRONT ROLL THROUGH. IT’S GOING TO KICK OFF SOME SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FOR AREAS LIKE KOSSUTH COUNTY WESTWARD TOWARDS SPENCER HERE. AND AS THAT FRONT SAGS TO THE SOUTHEAST, IT’S GOING TO DRY OUT AND SHIFT THOSE WINDS TO OUT OF THE NORTH. AND THEN THAT SWEET RELIEF IS EVENTUALLY GOING TO WORK ITS WAY ON IN. SO BY SATURDAY COULD SEE A STRAY SHOWER DOWN NEAR LAMONI. OTHERWISE THOSE WINDS STAYING OUT OF THE NORTH. LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT YOUR HEAT INDEX FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. WE’RE UP TO 108 BY 4:00 PM. AND THEN ON FRIDAY, AGAIN, DON’T SLEEP ON FRIDAY. IT’S STILL GOING TO BE A HOT DAY. GRANTED, NOT AS HOT AS WE’VE SEEN, BUT NOT GOING TO BE A GREAT DAY TO BE OUTSIDE. IF YOU HAVE PLANS THAT TAKE YOU OUTSIDE. EIGHT DAY FORECAST DOES COOL US DOWN TO 94 FOR YOUR FRIDAY FORECAST, THOUGH. COULD SEE A STRAY SHOWER. OTHERWISE, THE WEEKEND IS LOOKING LOVELY. TEMPERATURES BACK DOWN INTO THE MIDDLE 80S THERE
