Iowa weather: Heat advisory for most of Iowa on Friday
More than three-quarters of Iowa's counties will be under a heat advisory this afternoon.
Expect highs in the low-90s Friday, with heat index values potentially rising into the triple digits on Day 2 of the Iowa State Fair.

The advisory will be in effect from 1-7 p.m. for all but the northeastern corner of the state. It will stay warm and humid into the evening, with temperatures still in the 80s at 10 p.m.
Storm chances will return overnight, pushing into northwest Iowa after midnight, perhaps closer to sunrise. Those storms should move across portions of northern and central Iowa, but it is not clear if they will make it all the way south to the I-80 corridor. The early storms should fade with partly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Highs will be a little cooler, topping out in the mid to upper 80s.
Another round of storms is likely late Saturday night into Sunday morning. Sunday will follow a similar pattern with drier weather midday, and another storm chance Sunday night into Monday. Storm chances will linger into Monday afternoon and evening before we see some drier conditions for the middle of next week. The storm chances will help to keep highs in the mid-80s through at least the middle of next week.
