Iowa weather: Heat advisory for most of Iowa on Friday

Iowa weather: Heat advisory for most of Iowa on Friday
I KNOW IT’S GOING TO BE QUITE, QUITE A GAME TO TRAVEL. TODAY WE’RE EXPECTING SOME MORE HUMIDITY AROUND HERE. A LITTLE MORE HUMIDITY. A LITTLE MORE HEAT COMPARED TO THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS, BUT NOTHING TOO EXTRAORDINARY FOR THE IOWA STATE FAIR. IT’S HOT AND HUMID THIS TIME OF YEAR, ISN’T IT? YEAH, WE ARE GOING TO BE STARTING OFF ON A PRETTY PLEASANT NOTE. NO STORMS OUT THERE EARLY TODAY, SO THAT’S SOME GOOD NEWS. YOU CAN SEE PLENTY OF SUNSHINE THROUGHOUT THE DAY. TEMPERATURES DEFINITELY HEATING UP, SO BE READY FOR THAT IF YOU’RE GOING TO BE HEADING OUTDOORS ABOUT 85 DEGREES BY THE LUNCH HOUR. TOPPING OUT ABOUT 90 THIS AFTERNOON WITH THE HUMIDITY. FEELING MORE LIKE 98. BUT TEMPERATURES TODAY ACTUALLY LOOKING LIKE THEY’RE GOING TO BE A COUPLE DEGREES COOLER THAN WHAT THEY LOOKED LIKE EARLIER IN THE WEEK. SO THAT’S A TREND WE’LL TAKE THIS MORNING. A FEW CLOUDS OUT THERE, BUT NO RAIN OR STORMS HERE ACROSS CENTRAL IOWA. A NICE LITTLE CHANGE FROM THE PAST COUPLE OF DAYS. THERE IS A ROUND OF STORMS OFF TO OUR NORTH. LOOK AT THAT. A LINE OF DESTRUCTIVE THUNDERSTORMS MOVING THROUGH EASTERN NORTH DAKOTA INTO MINNESOTA. THANKFULLY, ALL OF THAT WILL STAY TO OUR NORTH AS WE GET AA1 DAY BREAK FROM THE THUNDERSTORM ACTIVITY RIGHT NOW, PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLEAR SKIES, 74 DEGREES. DEW POINTS ARE IN THE UPPER 60S, SO YES, THERE IS PLENTY OF HUMIDITY IN THE AIR. IT’S DEFINITELY FEELING PRETTY HUMID OUT THERE, BUT WE’RE NOT QUITE AT THE LEVEL THAT WE WERE A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO WHEN WE HAD OUR LAST ROUND OF HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS OUT THERE, 72 IN IOWA FALLS, 71 IN GRINNELL, 72 IN SHERIDAN. IT’S DEFINITELY A WARM START TO THE DAY. WE HAVE A LITTLE BIT OF A BREEZE OUT THERE ALREADY. SOME GUSTS AROUND 15, 20 MILES AN HOUR. CRESTON SHERATON OTTUMWA. AND I EXPECT THOSE WINDS TO INCREASE AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE DAY. SOME OF THOSE GUSTS COULD GET CLOSE TO 30 MILES AN HOUR LATER THIS AFTERNOON. SO A BIT ON THE BREEZY SIDE, BUT OTHERWISE PLENTY OF SUN AND THE HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS. TEMPERATURES IN THE MID TO UPPER 70 HERE BY 9:00. WE’RE INTO THE 80S BY TEN AND MID 80S BY NOON. HEADING INTO THE AFTERNOON, A FEW CLOUDS BUBBLING UP WITH HIGHS TOPPING OUT IN THE UPPER 80S TO AROUND 90 DEGREES. WE DON’T STAY STORM FREE FOR ALL THAT LONG, THANKFULLY. IF YOU GOT ANY FRIDAY NIGHT PLANS, YOU DON’T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE RAIN. BUT AFTER MIDNIGHT INTO EARLY TOMORROW MORNING, EXPECTING AT LEAST SOME SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS TO TRY TO PUSH INTO NORTHERN AND NORTHWESTERN IOWA, WE’LL SEE IF THESE STORMS CAN DROP ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE METRO, BUT THERE’S GOING TO BE AT LEAST A STORM CHANCE ACROSS NORTHERN IOWA TOMORROW MORNING, AND THEN WE’LL SEE MORE CHANCES THROUGHOUT THE WEEKEND AND INTO EARLY NEXT WEEK. SO TODAY WE ARE TALKING HIGHS IN THE UPPER 80S TO RIGHT AROUND 90 DEGREES, HOT AND HUMID, YES, BUT NOT QUITE AS HOT AS IT WAS LOOKING EARLIER IN THE WEEK. THE HEAT INDEX STILL TOPS OUT ABOUT 9899 DEGREES. SO YEAH, YOU’RE GOING TO BE SPENDING TIME OUTDOORS LATER TODAY. DEFINITELY BE READY FOR THE HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS TOMORROW MORNING. ROUND OF STORMS TO THE NORTH. WE COULD HAVE ANOTHER EVENING ROUND OF STORMS ACROSS PARTS OF THE AREA. HIGHS A LITTLE BIT COOLER BACK DOWN INTO THE MID 80S. ABOUT 87 HERE IN THE METRO, 86 ON SUNDAY. STORM CHANCE SATURDAY NIGHT SUNDAY MORNING. STORM CHANCE SUNDAY NIGHT, MONDAY MORNING AND MONDAY AFTERNOON AS WELL WITH HIGHS BACK INTO THE
