Iowa State in Dublin: Take in the sights, sounds of Ireland with coverage from 糖心vlog, Greenlee journalism students
WEEKEND. WE鈥橪L SHOW YOU THAT HERE IN A FEW MINUTES. THANKS, DAVID. WELL, THE EXCITEMENT IS BUILDING IN DUBLIN AS THE IOWA STATE CYCLONES GET READY TO KICK OFF THE FIRST GAME OF THE COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON. CAN鈥橳 BELIEVE IT鈥橲 ALMOST HERE. THE CYCLONES FACE OFF AGAINST KANSAS STATE TOMORROW INSIDE AVIVA STADIUM. 糖心vlog, STACEY HORST AND SPORTS DIRECTOR SCOTT REISTER LIVE IN DUBLIN鈥橲 TEMPLE BAR DISTRICT. STACY AND SCOTT. IT鈥橲 BEEN NOTHING SHORT OF A HUGE CELEBRATION EVER SINCE Y鈥橝LL GOT THERE. AND WE ARE REACHING THE HIGH POINT OF IT TOO. BUT I TELL YOU WHAT, BEN AND LAURA, TODAY WAS A VERY BIG DAY FOR THE CYCLONES. YEAH, I THINK A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE HAVING A BIG NIGHT HERE. THIS HAS BEEN SUCH A BLAST. AND IT WAS THE PEP RALLY TO END ALL PEP RALLIES. IF THERE WAS ANY QUESTION ABOUT WHETHER OR NOT CYCLONE FANS WOULD TRAVEL ALL THE WAY TO IRELAND TO FOLLOW THEIR TEAM, TAKE A LOOK AT THIS. A MONSTER PEP RALLY AT MERRION SQUARE TOOK PLACE THIS AFTERNOON. 10,000 CYCLONE FANS WILL BE HERE TO WATCH THE GAME, AND I鈥橠 VENTURE TO SAY BASICALLY ALL OF THEM WERE THERE CHEERING ON THE TEAM, THE BAND, THE CHEERLEADERS. JAMIE POLLARD WAS UP THERE. GOVERNOR REYNOLDS WAS UP THERE, ALL AT MERRION PARK IN HISTORIC DOWNTOWN DUBLIN. THERE WAS IRISH MUSIC. AND HOW ABOUT ZEKE ZIKA ON THE LEFT, A RETIRED COP, AND MARK EISCHEID, A RETIRED TRUCK DRIVER. I ASKED THEM TO DO AN IRISH, AN IRISH JIG FOR ME AND I THINK THEY NAILED IT. WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK? THEY WERE HAVING A GREAT TIME OUT THERE, AS THEY SHOULD. ALL THE FANS ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT. SHOWING WHAT CYCLONE NATION CAN DO NO MATTER WHERE THEY ARE IN THE GLOBE. IT WAS QUIET THE FIRST LIKE 2 OR 3 DAYS IN DUBLIN AND THEN EVERYBODY SHOWS UP AND THE ENERGY IS JUST INSANE. SO YEAH, IT鈥橲 AWESOME. YOU KNOW, THAT鈥橲 HOW IT IS FOR GAMES TOO, MAN. IT鈥橲 OUT OF CONTROL, MAN. I CAN鈥橳. ALL THESE PEOPLE GETTING TO CELEBRATE THE CYCLONES IS JUST AWESOME. LIKE THE ENVIRONMENT HERE. YOU KNOW, ALL THE PUBS ARE FILLED WITH CARDINAL AND GOLD. IT鈥橲 JUST A GREAT TIME. AND IT WOULDN鈥橳 BE A PEP RALLY WITHOUT THE SPIRIT SQUAD. WE鈥橵E BEEN SHOWING YOU WHAT THE BAND AND CHEERLEADERS HAVE BEEN UP TO. THE CHEERLEADERS GOT TO BRING NINE. THE DANCE TEAM BROUGHT NINE, MOSTLY SENIORS. THEY GOT TO EXPERIENCE THE TRIP OF A LIFETIME. RIGHT NOW IN THIS INTERNATIONAL STAGE. THEY TOLD ME THEY FOUND OUT THE LOCALS HERE WEREN鈥橳 SURE WHAT REAL CHEERLEADERS WERE. THEY CHEERLEADING? NOT A BIG THING OVER HERE IN IOWA, BUT IT CERTAINLY IS. THESE IOWA STATE CYCLONES WITH THE JUICY WIGGLE GOING AT FULL FORCE. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE. IT HAS BEEN SO AMAZING JUST TO SEE ALL THE CYCLONE SUPPORT. I FEEL LIKE WE ALWAYS SEE IT IN OUR COMMUNITY AND IT AMES, BUT BRINGING IT FROM JACK TRICE TO DUBLIN, IRELAND IS REALLY CRAZY. IT鈥橲 AWESOME. IT SHOWS HOW FAR THE CYCLONES ARE WILLING TO TRAVEL TO SUPPORT THEIR TEAM, SO IT鈥橲 AWESOME. SO MUCH TO SMILE ABOUT. I THINK EVERYONE鈥橲 FACE WAS HURTING AFTER THAT. IT鈥橲 NOT JUST THE FANS, BUT IT鈥橲 THE STUDENTS WHO ARE ALSO PARTICIPATING IN THE
